Research on Social media and its importance in political campaign
LOR (Mayor)
1. CITY of VLDOSTA, GEORGIA
John Gayle
Mayor
June LL, 2015
To Whom lt May Concern:
As the Valdosta Mayor, it is with great pleasure to supply this letter of reference on behalf of
ViCtoria Moss for being a tremendous asset to the City of Valdosta. Victoria was part of a four-
person team that won the 2015 Social Media Contest, which provided solid suggestions for the
city's social media strategy" This outstanding accomplishment is deserving of special
recognition, as the ideas implemented will significantly impact the way the local government
communicates more effectively with its citizens.
Recognizing social media's effectiveness in communicating with an increasingly diverse and
large audience, the City of Valdosta began a partnership with Valdosta State University's Social
Media Theory class, led by Dr. David Nelson. The class was divided into groups, which were
tasked with developing a realistic social media plan that would be graded (resulting in a large
part of their class grade) and judged by the city's Public lnformation Officer.
Victoria's team provided the Public lnformation Officer with insightful ideas for reaching
citizens who use social media as their primary source of communication, and also offered
innovative suggestions for revamping and incorporating social media into the city's website.
Victoria possesses the valuable skill of working efficiently with a team to accomplish something
that benefits a larger group, in this case the citizens of Valdosta. Victoria has demonstrated an
intuitive understanding of social media and its usefulness, as well as the ability to apply her
knowledge to the important work of local government" I applaud Victoria and highly
recommend her to any employer for whom she seeks to work.
