Espire Develops a SharePoint Web Based Portal to Deliver
Consistent & Integrated User & Customer Experience
The Client
The client, listed on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM),
is a leading provider of Managed Services and Niche Staffing
Expertise based in the UK and North America. The client also
has its operations set up in the mainland Europe, Australia and
New Zealand region across 250 different offices.
Business Need
The client provides employment to different professionals
through various specialist brands across a broad range of
sectors. Each brand had different Intranets and Internet facing
portals on different technologies (SharePoint 2010, MOSS
2007 and classic ASP) in silos. The client wanted to develop a
group portal where each brand would have its own microsites
for common user experience. In addition, the client wanted to
leverage latest technologies available in the market.
Solution
Espire helped the client to develop a SharePoint web based
portal application to transform user & customer experience.
After evaluating different technology options, based on their
long term technology roadmap, Espire Architected high level
logical and physical designs. According to the client’s need
and our extensive evaluation, we then developed a Group
Intranet portal for client starting with 2 brands (Carbon 60 and
Guidant) with SharePoint 2013 on-premises solution and rest
of the brands were developed on SharePoint Online solution in
order to utilise O365 plan that client had invested in.
Our idea was to utilise out of the box components as much
as possible and create custom components where necessary.
Also, we created a reusable repository of custom components
which is reused by other brands. With an agile approach, each
portal was completed in respective sprint, and enhancements
were taken in subsequent sprints. Finally, until the application
was migrated to new platform, we also provided support and
maintenance for the Internet facing portal.
Business Benefits
All the information related to client’s events is effectively
published in order to simplify routine business activities
