Introduction
Dear guests, members, and senators,
By means of this newsletter we would like to share
with you all that the organization of JCI UC has been
and will be doing throughout the course of this year.
This is the sixth edition of our bulletin named after
U-C US, which is a combination of our name and
slogan “JCI U-C US CREATING POSITIVE CHANGE. It is
the intention to distribute a newssheet on a bi-
monthly basis. In case you missed out one of our
events, meetings, or trainings you will be able to
easily catch up thanks to this new initiative.
This year is another great opportunity to continue
with the JCI movement by creating even greater
impact within our community, as well as
internationally, and hopefully around the world.
Hence we cannot stop investing in ourselves. To
become day by day a better leader than yesterday
we certainly believe that one must:
LEARN AND LEAD
“U-C US
creating positive
change.”
Vision
To be the leading global network of young active
citizens.
Mission
To provide development opportunities that
empower young people to create positive change.
Values
We believe…
That faith in God gives meaning and purpose to
human life,
That the brotherhood of man transcends the
sovereignty of nations,
That economic justice can best be won by free men
through free enterprise,
That government should be of laws rather than of
men,
That earth’s great treasure lies in human
personality,
And that service to humanity is the best work of life.
“have the courage to follow your heart
and intuition. They somehow know
what you truly want to become.

In addition to community projects
JCI is known for its empowering
trainings given to all and sundry for
a relative price.
The entrepreneurship training was in
this case no exception. Curaçao has
recently been the factory for many
young and talented entrepreneurs.
In order to support this growing
group of tycoons JCI UC dedicated a
day with three informative
presentations presented by Steven
Damiana (Chamber of Commerce
Curaçao), Nevita Mezas (The
Business Connection), and Richney
Philipa (Quality of Life Consultancy).
Those who attended this training
had a perfect moment to lay down
their concerns regarding current
business opportunities and ask
relating questions.

365 days may seem a lot. But when
your hands are full the days fly by in
a blink of an eye.
Board 2015 has reached its last
General Membership Meeting
(GMM) chaired by President Silvetty
de la Paz. It was an emotional
evening where board members gave
a recap of their experience
throughout the year and shared
words of wisdom with the incoming
board.
Unlike the previous GMMs this one
had a different notch regarding the
popular One Hour Session. Board
members joined the assembly for an
informal yet interactive session,
where different attention-grabbing
topics were discussed. Topics
discussed were mainly:
What is your opinion in regards
to the situation in Paris and the
way it is being brought forward
through media channels?
(Anti) Social Media
Would you give your phone at
the entrance of a JCI event in a
secured box?
We dearly thank 2015 for all the
challenges as these were purely
opportunities to grow and become
even stronger as person,
organization, and active citizens!

JCI UC Board of 2016
It is with great pleasure that we present
to you our new Board of Directors for
the calendar year of 2016.
After an inspiring speech from each
one of these members, JCI UC casted
their votes and elected the new officers
that will lead and embrace this
organization for the betterment of its
existence.
2016 Board has a very simple approach
in regards to the upcoming 12 months
they are about to face: TEAMWORK.
According to the President, UC will go
back to basics, where everyone was
socially more involved with one
another in order to enhance
performance of each single member.
Every member shall be participating in
at least one project to contribute to the
overall progress of the organization by
its vision and mission.
We wish the Incoming Board of 2016
nothing but the best during their
journey as local officers. Rather than a
challenge this is a great opportunity to
grow as a person and within JCI. This
growth will eventually be noticeable in
your actions in the near future.
