The Mid Autumn Festival is a traditional Chinese festival and a day for family reunion. On this day, everyone will eat moon cakes, which means reunion.I hope you can also enjoy your day with your family.
1. Origin and customs of Mid-Autumn Festival
There are many traditional festivals in China, and the
Mid-Autumn Festival is undoubtedly one of the most important
traditional festivals. It is on the fifteenth day of the eighth
lunar month of each year.
Mid-Autumn Festival has a history of over 3,000 years, dating
back to moon worship in the Shang Dynasty (1600–1046 BC). It’
s such an important festival that many poems were written about
it, stories and legends about the festival are widespread, and
its origins have been guessed at and explained by generations
of Chinese.
2. The mid-autumn festival has all interesting history. For
example, one of In ancient Chinese myths and legends, there were
originally ten suns in the world. They appear in the sky one
by one, bringing light to the earth. But suddenly one day, ten
suns appeared in the sky together. The river was dried up by
the heat of the ten suns, and the earth was burned by the heat
of the ten suns everywhere was barren. At this time, a powerful
archer Hou Yi shot nine suns with his bow and arrow and saved
the world.
Then, in order to thank Hou Yi, people gave him an "Elixir
of Life". Hou Yi loved his wife Chang'e so deeply, so they gave
the Elixir of Life to Chang'e. After Chang'e ate it, he flew
to the moon and became the moon god. Since Chang'e flew to the
moon on the night of the fifteenth day of the eighth lunar month,
girls always worship the moon god on that night. Slowly, it
evolved into the Mid-Autumn Festival
3. On that night, families eat moon cakes and enjoy the glorious
full moon; the moon cake is round and looks like the full moon.
4. This is a reunion festival. We will all gather together for
dinner and enjoy the moon on this day. So this is a warm holiday
5. The above is part of the customs of Chinese Mid-Autumn
Festival. Our Mid-Autumn Festival has more origins and customs,
and we will tell you about our “Hongdefa machinery” next year.
6. Happy Mid-Autumn Day! Wish that you go well and have a
successful and bright future.
