3. WHAT IS PLAGIARISM
▪ The word Plagiarism is derived from a Latin
word Plagiare meaning Kidnap.
▪ Plagiarism meaning is to copy others ideas
without giving credit to them, no citation, no
quotation marks etc.….

2. Unintentional Plagiarism

▪ Copy paste from encyclopedias.
▪ If anyone publish something without the permission of writer.
▪ Even if you cheat in exam, it is also intentional plagiarism.
▪ Using someone’s work without crediting him/her.
▪ It is also plagiarism if you get data from your friends or family.

▪ Failure to cite a source that is common knowledge.
▪ Failure to put a summary in your words, even if documented (putting
someone’s data with minor changes).
▪ Using others words or ideas without quotation marks or references.
▪ Buying data from web and putting it in your work as you did it.
▪ Submitting your data again and again.

▪ Taking pics of book and use it in exams.
▪ Mostly students write answers of questions on their arms or on sheets before
exam.
▪ If you need to hide something from others that you think can heart them then it
is also a kind cheating.
WHAT IS CHEATING
Cheating is intentional and is to deceive someone. It shows someone’s unfair
behavior with others to achieve a goal. Cheating in educational life is related to
plagiarism because in cheating you also copy someone’s work and show it as yours.

know what grade will they get on their own work.
▪ They plagiarize and cheat due to their poor management skills.
▪ Students lack research skills, careless note-taking etc.
▪ Using internet to make their work easy and saving time.
▪ Some students Plagiarize when they have no interest in assignment or
may be pressure of other assignments.

NEGATIVE IMPACT OF PLAGIARISM & CHEATING
13. ISLAMIC TEACHINGS
▪ “He who cheats is not one of us.”
▪ “Whoever bears arms against us is not one of us, and whoever cheats us is
not one of us.”
▪ “Every traitor will have a banner on the Day of Resurrection and it will be
said: This is the betrayer of so-and-so.” (Saheeh Al-Bukhari)
▪ “There are four characteristics, whoever has all of them is a true hypocrite,
and whoever has one of them has one of the qualities of a hypocrite until he
gives it up: when he is trusted, he betrays; when he speaks, he lies; when he
makes a promise, he breaks it; and when he disputes, he resorts to slander.”
(Saheeh Al-Bukhari, Saheeh Muslim)
14. INCIDENT FROM HOLY PROPHET’S (PBUH) LIFE
▪ Once Prophet (S.A.W.W) saw a person who was hiding rain damaged food
from people. Prophet said to him, “O owner of the food, what is this?” The
man said, “It was damaged by rain, O Messenger of God.” He (S.A.W.W) said,
“Why did you not put the rain-damaged food on top so that people could see
it! Whoever cheats us is not one of us.”
(Saheeh Muslim)
15. ▪ If you found data about your topic, then read it write it in your words
and give credit to owner.
▪ Don’t copy paste or if you have to write exact words then write it in
quotation marks and also give reference.
▪ If you have to get data from your previous assignments first try to
ignore it if it is important then also put it with proper citation.
▪ Try to become creative and polish your thinking skills.
▪ Prepare yourself for exams and try to become independent.
▪ Try to become loyal and reliable.
SOLUTION FOR PLAGIARISM & CHEATING
16. We have to become faithful and honest with our abilities
and capabilities and polish our thinking skills. We have to
become creative and innovative with whatever we do rather
than replicating other’s stuff. We have to try to decrease the
use of internet in our work and try to do our work ourselves
instead of buying it or doing it with help of others.
