Iuliu Maniu was a Romanian politician who served multiple terms as Prime Minister of Romania between 1928-1930 and 1932-1933. He was born in 1873 in Bădăcin, Transylvania and studied law in Cluj, Budapest, and Vienna. Maniu began his political career in the Romanian National Party of Transylvania and was elected to the Hungarian parliament in 1906 as a deputy representing Alba County. He was also the long-time president of the National Peasant Party from 1926-1933 and 1937-1947 until being imprisoned after 1947, where he died in 1953 in Sighet prison.
