Samoila Mârza was a Romanian photographer born in 1886 known for capturing the only photographs of the Great National Assembly in Alba Iulia on December 1st, 1918 which established the union of Transylvania with Romania. He was born to Romanian peasant parents and attended Greek-Catholic religious school and high school in Alba Iulia. Between 1909 and 1911, he apprenticed with photographer Iainek in Sibenik to study photography. After World War I, he photographed the sanctification of the first Romanian tricolor flag in November 1918. In early 1919, he published an album of photographs from the Assembly of Alba Iulia which was presented at the Versailles Peace Conference.
