This document provides steps to remove highlighting from text in Blackboard announcements that causes font size issues when the announcements are emailed. The steps are to: 1. Edit the announcement and select the HTML button. 2. Remove the code "background-color: #ffff00;" which controls the highlighting. 3. Click update and submit to remove the highlighting and prevent font size changes when the announcement is emailed.

2. This document provides guidelines for properly removing highlighting in Blackboard
Announcements. Previously, changing highlighting from yellow to white/clear changes
the highlight visibly, but would affect the style of the text; this lead to a font size change
when the Announcements are sent out via email.
**Note: This affects anything that has been highlighted in the announcement

3. Step 1:
Go to ELO Template -> Announcements
Select the dropdown chevron next to the announcement and select Edit
Step 2:
Select the HTML button

4. A new window that looks similar to below will appear.
Step 3:
Remove the following pieces of code: background-color: #ffff00;

discussion. Online discussion boards may be made available for students to answer each other’s questions, and to give

Click Update
Step 5:
Verify that the Discussion Board section is no longer highlighted yellow and then select
Submit.
