Contamination Analysis - Essential To Manufacturing
Process
There comes a time wherein a desired output in any
manufacturing processes is not attained due to
contamination issues. While there are problems that are
just marginal, there are also times that a manufacturing
facility suffers a big loss in production because of output
defects that are just too serious in quantity or quality to
let it pass. Such a scenario needs appropriate action -
contamination analysis must be performed.
There are a number of reasons why contamination
analysis is essential to any manufacturing processes.
Below are some of the reasons why:
- It is an effective way to identify the root cause of the
contamination problem, which allows you to make the
necessary steps to provide a core solution and not just a
'band-aid' fix.
- It also allows you to identify the type or mode and
mechanism of contamination - whether an immediate
solution is necessary or not.
- It helps prevent further deterioration of product's
quality, thereby allowing you to maintain your
reputation as a good manufacturer.
- It lets you identify early indications of possible product
contamination (based on the signs you have identified),
which is helpful for your future process. For instance,
you can prevent potential damages that could cause a
bigger problem in the future, which might negatively
impact your business as a whole (e.g. it can affect your
total operational costs, negatively.)
- It also provides you educated recommendations that
can be useful in avoiding similar issues in your future
manufacturing projects. In other words, investigating
the cause of failure will help you become more prepared
for any contamination issues you encounter in the
future.
- And, since all conclusions can be formulated according
to the facts you find in contamination/failure analysis, it
