Detective Richard interrogates Bill, the main suspect in Cassandra Barnaby's murder. Richard informs Bill that witnesses place him at the docks around the time of Cassandra's death. Bill denies being there and claims he was out with friends for a birthday. When Richard accuses him, Bill becomes upset and asks why he would kill his girlfriend Cassandra. Richard then ominously says he will find out the truth and leaves the room.

1. CUT IN-INT-
Table, Dark room, two chairs
DETECTIVE RICHARD walking through the door to the interrogation room where
BILL is sat behind the table looking around the room.
DETECTIVE RICHARD slams some papers on the table in front of BILL.
DECTIVE RICHARD presses the button on a tape recorder that is on the table.
DETECTIVE RICHARD
Interview number 13, time 3:15pm, date 8th may.
You have been arrested under the suspicion of murdering Cassandra Barnaby.
We have witnesses that can confirm your presence at the docks at 1:15 am the same time as
Cassandra Barnaby is thought to of been killed. Quite suspicious wouldn’t you say.
Do you deny being there?
BILL
Yes I do deny it, I was with my friends all ni ght. Ask them if you don’t believe me. It was my friend’s
birthday you see so we went out for a few. As you do, not that you would know.
BILL smiles apprehensively
DETECTIVE RICHARD stands up and sends his chair flying backwards and begins shouting
DETECTIVE RICHARD
People like you disgust me!!!
BILL taps the table with his finger nails nervously and avoids eye contact with DETECTIVE RICHARD

2. BILL
She was my girlfriend!
BILL pauses for a few seconds
Why would I kill her?!
A few tears can be seen forming in the corner of BILL’s eyes
DETECTIVE RICHARD
I don’t know, but I’ll find out.
DETECTIVE RICHATD is silent for a moment then walks out of the room.
