ABOUT THE VILLAGE TRIP

▸ The Village Trip is an annual music and arts festival founded in 2018 by
journalist and author Liz Thomson to champion the cultural legacy of downtown
New York City.
▸ It’s a celebration of vibrant neighborhoods including Greenwich Village, the
West Village and East Village, anchored by Washington Square Park and
Tompkins Square Park, the beating hearts of bohemian culture.
▸ These communities have nurtured musicians, composers, and singers;
playwrights, poets, and novelists; painters, sculptors, and performance artists
whose work has made a powerful impact far beyond the island of Manhattan.
▸ Their spirit of social activism has flourished for generations; the good vibrations
of these creative non-conformists and shape-shifting troublemakers resonating
around the world and bringing about lasting change.

ABOUT THE VILLAGE TRIP
▸ For two weeks in September, The Village Trip presents a wide variety of events
for grownups and kids, locals and visitors. Inspired by the annual Edinburgh
International Festival, it offers a broad program of music, theater, and comedy
performances, as well as art and design, and food offerings from local chefs
and restaurants.
▸ The centerpiece free concert in Washington Square Park has featured
performances by Suzanne Vega, Steve Earle, Bobby Sanabria, Janis Siegel,
and Martha Redbone.
▸ The Village Trip honors a grand tradition of musical, literary, and artistic
adventure and celebrates the cultural diversity that makes downtown New York
one of the most dynamic communities in the world.

91-year-old David Amram, is the festival’s Artist Emeritus
