“Andwe know that inall thingsGodworks for the goodof those wholove him,who have been called
accordingto hispurpose.”(Romans8:28).
It issometimesadisconcertingtruthformanyChristiansthateventhoughwe belongtoGodthrough
faithinChrist,we still seemtoexperiencethe same problemsthatplaguedusbefore we were saved.
We oftenbecome discouragedandboggeddowninlife’scares.The factthat boththe OldandNew
Testamentsaddressthisproblemthe same wayindicatesthatGodknowsproblemsandworriesare
inevitable inthislife.Thankfully,He hasgivenusthe same solutionHe gave inbothPsalmsandPeter’s
letter. Itsaysin Psalm55:22 “Castyour cares on the LORD andhe will sustainyou;he will never let the
righteousfall” andwe can readfromin 1 Peter 5:7, “Castall youranxiety on himbecause he cares for
you”
Containedwithinthese twoversesare several amazingtruths: FirsttheyteachusthatGod will sustain
us, secondthat He will neverletusfall,and thirdthatHe caresfor us. What wonderful promisesfrom
God. Takenone at a time,we see firstthatGoddeclaresbothHis abilityandHiswillingnesstobe our
strengthandsupport—mentally,emotionallyandspiritually.He isable (andbestof all,willing!) totake
everythingthatthreatenstooverwhelmusanduse it forour benefit.He haspromisedto“workall
thingstogetherforthe goodof those wholove him:We can learnthisfrom Colossians1:17“
He is before
all things,and inhim all thingsholdtogether.”Butwe can alsolearnthisisavailedtothose whohave
beencalledaccordingtohispurpose. Aswe can learnfrom Romans 8:28, “Andwe knowthat in all
thingsGodworks for the good ofthose who love him,who have been calledaccordingto hispurpose.”
As Christianswe mustalwaysrememberthatwe have Godspromisesforusevenat timeswhenwe
doubtHim,He isstill workingforourgood and Hisglory. In additiontoabove the bible teachesusthat
He has alsopromisedthatHe will allownotrial tobe sogreat we cannot bearit andthat He will provide
a meansof escape asstatedin 1 Corinthians10:13, No temptationhas overtaken youexcept what is
commonto mankind.And Godisfaithful;he will not let you be tempted[b]
beyond whatyou can bear.
But when you are tempted, he will alsoprovidea way out so that you can endure it.” By this,He
meansthat He will notletus fall,asHe promisedin Psalm55:22,“Castyour cares onthe LORD andhe
will sustainyou; he will never let the righteousfall”
The third statement—“he caresforyou”—givesusthe motivationbehindHisotherpromises. We know
that inour day to day living,parentsandfamilyare the ONLYONES that we be assuredthattheycare for
me.There may be otherswhomay say thisbutwe have NO certaintythere.Itisonlyour God whotruly
lovesusand caresfor us. He is our lovingheavenlyFatherwhose heartistendertowardHischildren. He
forgivesusandenablesusaneternitywithHim!We can learnwhen Jesusremindsusthatjustas an
earthlyfatherwouldnotdenyhischildrenbread,soGodhaspromisedtogive us“good gifts”whenwe
ask Himas statedin Matthew 7:11, “ Ifyou, then, thoughyou are evil,know how to give goodgiftsto
your children,how muchmore will your Father in heaven give goodgiftsto those who ask him!.
Whenwe are troubledwithworry,we runto Himand like asking fromourparents,we ask“good gifts”
fromHim to overcome the trouble facedbyus. In the spiritof askingforgood gifts,firstwe mustpray
and steadfastly commitourworrytothe Lord and seekHisprovisiontoovercome same.The Bible He
teachesusmany thingssothat we will have peace inourheartsbecause He whomthat we have faith
and believe has“overcome the world.He said: “Ihavetold youthese things,sothat in me you may
have peace. In this worldyou will have trouble.But take heart! I have overcome the world.”(John

2. 16:33).God’s wordis Truth and we must come to Him infaith andask Him to show us how to
"overcome"ourproblems,ourworries,ouranger,ourfearsandour guilt. The Lord revealstous
throughHis Word,the Bible,thatwe can overcome ouranxietyandworry.Takingfromthe New
Testament,we canlearnfourteachingswe place here amongmanythat youtoo will be able tofind
throughsame.
As Christiansfirstwe mustlearn torejoice inourproblemsbecause Godwill use themtoourbenefit.
Yes thismaybe impossible,butif one hassufficientfaithinthe Lord,overcominganythingispossible
because:He replied,“Because you have solittle faith.Truly I tell you, ifyou have faithas small asa
mustardseed, you can say to thismountain,‘Movefrom here to there,’ and it will move. Nothingwill
be impossibleforyou.” Whenone isfilledwith worryeverythingaffectsusincludingourwalkwithGod.
But we have some importantlearningthroughthe Gospel:"Knowingthattribulationproduces
perseverance; and perseverance, character; andcharacter, hopes"(Romans5:3-4).Secondlywe need
to learnto see our"worries"asan opportunityto learnand practice our absolute faithinGod’s
provisioninovercomingwhateverwe are facing.We can learn fromProverbs 3:5-6, "Trust inthe Lord
with all your heart, andlean not on your ownunderstanding;inall your ways acknowledgeHim, and
He shall direct your paths."
Thirdwe needto counteractour angerwithforgiveness.Whenone isfilledwithanger,he orshe has
angertakesprecedence overeverythingelse.Jesusislove andasChristfollowerswe mustlearnto
followHiswaystobe like Him.We can learnfrom Ephesians4:32, "Andbe kindto one another,
tenderhearted, forgivingoneanother, even as Godin Christforgave you." Fourthwe needto deal
truthfullywith anysinfulfeelings.Inourdayto day livingwe are facedwithmanytemptations. When
we give into this,we become sinnersandwhateverrighteousnessone hasgoesoutof the window.
Beingtruthful requiresconfessingtoGod andthrough faithseekingRepentance andthatwaywe can be
cleansedfromourunrighteousness. 1John 1:9, "Ifwe confess our sins,he isfaithful andjust andwill
forgiveus our sinsand purifyus fromall unrighteousness." We believeinagoodGod who forgives our
sinand our problemscanbe dealtwiththroughsimple faithinGod'sWord.
As Christianswe mustbearinmindthatour God is biggerthanall our worriesandproblemsput
together,andwe mustrealize thatif we are to have anyvictoryin our lives.Everyone sufferswiththese
difficulties,becausethe Bible teachesthattemptationis"common"tomankind.We mustnotletSatan
deceive usintothinkingthatall ourproblemsare our fault,all ourworrieswill come true,all ouranger
condemnsus,or that all our guiltisfromGod. We must clearlybelievethatif we dosinand confess,God
forgivesandcleanses.We neednotfeelashamed,butrathertake God at His Word that He doesforgive
and cleanse.None of oursinsare so heavythatGod cannot liftthemfromus andthrow themintothe
deepestsea.
In reality,feelingscome fromthoughts,so,eventhoughwe can'tchange how we feel,we canchange
howwe think.Andthisiswhat God wantsus to do.So, eachday, takingone stepat a time,we should
pray forGod's Word to guide us,read or listentoGod'sWord, and meditate onGod'sWord whenthe
problems,worries,andanxietiesof life come along.The secrettogivingthingsovertoChristisreallyno
secretat all—it'ssimplyaskingJesustotake ourburden of “worry” and enable me tolive ahelpful and
lovinglife asHe wantsus to have.
