1. 70s-80s – Arcade
An arcade machine is a coin operated machine which enables you to
play games for a small fee and for a
limited time. Arcade machines
were normally found in arcades,
bars, restaurants, and cafes. Most
arcade games are like video games for
example pinball and redemption
games.
80s, 90s, and 00s – Box Ship, Done
The box ship and done
method is when a
company makes the
console then ships it
out and that is their job
done. Then they just
wait for the customers
for the customers to
buy the console from the shop and buy the games for that console
and that is how they make the money and what the box ship done
method is. The box ship and done method is design for people to
play games in their own home in their own comfort and leisure.
2. 00s to the present day – Observe, Measure and
Modify.
The observe, measure and modify method is when they study the
market and what games are
most popular then they
see what would be a
success and what would be
different and a good idea to
do in today’s market
then they set about making
that game based on the
details that they have learnt
from their observations and
their measuring. This
method is design not only to
be played in your home but also that you can play some of the games
on the go whenever you feel the need to play the game and is done
mainly through the internet but is also done through the less modern
method of going to the shop and buying the game but they still use
this method to date for example games on the kinect.
