The State of Illinois has a Certificate of Need (CON) program, which requires a
permit (CON) for construction or modification projects proposed by healthcare
facilities. Passavant Memorial Hospital had recently completed an affiliation
with a healthcare system and planned to add a psychiatric unit. Another affiliate
facility also had plans for expansion. Both projects were on very tight timelines and
could not move forward without approved CONs.

Testimonial
In the process of preparing the application
for a CON, our client realized the hospital
was approximately 18 months behind
on its cancer case reporting to the state,
which meant that a CON would not be
approved for either facility. In the midst of
this process, Passavant’s cancer registrar
resigned, leaving no one to bring their state
reporting up to date.
Passavant’s CON was approved, allowing
the hospital to move forward with its
expansion plans on the original schedule.
himagine was able to quickly identify two
registrars, managed by a himagine National
Compliance Manager, to complete the
required state reporting. While the cases
were submitted quickly, they were not
showing on the state’s system. Our team
was able to identify why the cases were
not appearing in the system and worked
with the state until all of our client’s cases
were properly uploaded. himagine not only
submitted cases required for the CON
application, we brought the client concurrent
through the date the project ended (October
2014).
himagine solutions was very responsive to our needs. They rapidly arranged staff to complete our
cancer patient identification and registration with the state so we could meet our required timeline.
They were professional, very knowledgeable, and prompt in completing the work. We could not
have met our timeline without their assistance.
