Firstly, for our main character we are using a
white T-shirt. White is a colour often associated
with innocence and purity, which can in turn be
linked to a youthful target audience. Therefore
we thought this colour would be most effective
for your music video.
As well as this we believe that the white
contrast to the darkness of the lighting
throughout the majority of our video. In the
video our main ‘BOY’ is going through a rough
nights sleep. This is reflected by the characters
body expression and movement as well as the
lighting. So the fact that his shirt is white might
offer a symbol of light/hope as the video gets
better for him.
Secondly to accompany our actors white T-shirt we used black
joggers. This is a style of clothing often associated with a chilled out
and relaxed atmosphere. We feel that this will appeal to our
teenage target audience as well as reflecting the fact he is trying to
“chill out’ or sleep.
The black joggers contrast to the brightness of his white t-shirt,
therefore putting further emphasis on the meaning of the white
why he is wearing.
This is a style of clothing worn in every day life an will be relatable
to our audience. He wears these joggers when he is asleep and
when he is awake, showing the link between his dreams and reality.
Lastly for our main character, costume wise we used trainers.
This is the most popular and therefore relatable style of shoe
for our teenage target audience.
This is a very comfortable type of footwear and this may reflect
that when he is wearing them in his dream he is at his most
comfortable.
Due to the fact that his dreams are all point of view his feet are
Seen often throughout the video. Therefore we had to consider
a brand and style that would greatly appeal to our target
audience.
The main prop we are going to use is a bed. The
whole video alternates between our main
character in a dream world and him in his bed, so
it is a key part of the video.
This prop is a symbolic sign for sleep and therefore
will have a significant effect on members of the
audience.
We will also add a bed sheet to make it look as if
our character is actually sleeping in his bed. A
blanket is a connotation of comfort and we hope
this will leave a lasting impression on our audience
and make theme feel comfortable when watching
the video.
Another prop we used will use 4 coffee cups, one for
each of the 4 relevant characters within the scene. These
are for the dream scenes to make it look as if the actors
involved were actual paying customers in a coffee shop.
These cups cost 30p each and we will buy a total of 8
cups to last the duration of our filming.
The location itself represents a teenage meeting place
and the cups simply help to re enforce this. This prop
symbolizes
A third prop we are going to use is a piece of
paper or maybe a napkin with a phone number
written on it.
This is a typical, relatable way of how people
often exchange phone numbers and members
of our audience will be able to link this image to
something they have seen before.
This prop is ultimately what changes our main
boys fortunes within his dreams and therefore is
important.
