What is Terraglow? It is the world's first glow-in-the-dark epoxy terrazzo system designed by Concord Terrazzo Company. Applications include epoxy resin, aggregates, and abrasive channels. Terraglow is a longlasting, aesthetically appealing, and low maintenance two-part epoxy resin system that uses photoluminescent pigments that absorb natural or artificial lighting to glow in dim-light settings. Ideal for bars, stadiums, nightclubs as safety features, wayfinding patterns or decorative designs.
2. How Terraglow Helps Architectural Projects
Concord Terrazzo Company created the world's first glow-in-the-dark resin system. The
product features photo luminescent pigments, which absorbs sunlight, daylight or
artifical lights and emits a visible glow in dark indoor settings. The two-part epoxy resin
system contains the physical characteristics of our signature EZPour Epoxy 158 system
that can be combined with any variety of decorative aggregates and poured in place at
1/4" to 3/8" nominal thickness as a durable, highly decorative and low maintenance
flooring system.
Currently available in four colors: Blue, Green, Violet and Aqua, Terraglow is ideal for
commercial and industrial settings such as showrooms, sports facilities, nightclubs,
entertainment venues, production areas and any other low-light environments.
The glow-in-the-dark feature gives terrazzo gives an interesting take for artists and
designers. Terraglow can be used as a safety feature, used in wayfinding patterns or as
decorative displays that engages with the public.

4. Epoxy Terrazzo
Terraglow boasts the durability of a standard epoxy terrazzo
system but with a lot more flair.
With the lights on, Terraglow will look like a standard piece of
terrazzo, which designers can use any combination of marble,
glass or shell chips in any of Terraglow's primary colors: Blue,
Green, Violet or Aqua.
In dim-light settings, the epoxy terrazzo will illuminate for 30
minutes or hours depending on the amount of light absorbed.
Not only can Terraglow be used in epoxy terrazzo flooring for
decorative designs and wayfinding patterns, but can also be used
in precast terrazzo applications including stair treads,
countertops, and wall base.

5. Aggregates
Glow-in-the-dark aggregates are more commonly used in
terrazzo applications. This also creates a unique effect for any
terrazzo floor, countertop, or tile surface.
Terraglow aggregates may also be used in other industries for
concrete and landscaping applications.

6. Abrasive Channels
In addition to epoxy resin and aggregates, Terraglow can be
manufactured as abrasive strips. Add abrasive strips to any
terrazzo stair tread for a unique appearence that offers a safe
guide to any walking in low-light conditions.
The abrasive strips are routed out channels that are filled with
Terraglow epoxy resin. The resin is bonded directly to the terrazo
stair tread. The epoxy can be poured into the channels by itself
for a smooth finish or can incorporate aluminum oxide for
abrasive resistance.

7. Terraglow works with natural light or artificial light. Many green buildings today are transitioning to the use of daylighting
to save on energy costs, but can create opportunities for a Terraglow system. Locations such as bars, stadiums and
nightclubs that operate at night can absorb light all day and create an engaging atmosphere for customers. Terraglow
surfaces can also provide safety during times when the power goes out or even create fascinating displays in exhibits at
museums, children's hospitals, libraries, art galleries, or zoos.
Here is a demonstration of Terraglow in both light and dark settings.

8. Mock-up Designs with Terraglow Epoxy Resin
Terraglow absorbs natural light or
artificial light for a period of time.

2. The Terraglow takes effect once a space
transitions into a dim-light setting. Terraglow
typically takes effect after 5 minutes of
absorbing UV lighting.
3. Terraglow in a pitch-black setting. The
duration of Terraglow is dependent on how
much light is absorbed prior to the change of
setting.
9. Seattle Children's Hospital - Building Cure
At the Seattle Children's Research Institute, the building opened the "Cure Factory", a
laboratory where scientists will manufacture cancer-fighting T cell and other cell
therapies to aid over 1,000 children yearly.
During the construction of the project, TERRAZZCO stair treads with Terraglow abrasive
channels were specified for the project, which was installed as a staircase leading to the
10th floor. The building is inspired by art and science. These stairs not only provide
longterm durability and aesthetics but offer safe footing for children and visitors
especially during emergencies.
