______________________________________________________________________
I. PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Please give a brief project summary.
This project will fund courses that enable the athletic department to educate our student athletes
on the importance of nutrition and strength and conditioning during their different phases of
training (off, in, or post-season). We can also educate on the effects of supplements, alcohol and
drugs on performance. Educating our athletes will enable them to make healthier life choices and
perform at an optimal level on the field.
II. PROJECT OBJECTIVES
Please list specific objectives (including impact on curriculum).
While the day to day curriculum of Bronxville’s students won’t be affected, these modules can be
of interest to the physical education and health departments should they find it helpful to
incorporate in their curriculum as modules. This also aligns with an ongoing objective of the
athletic department to train in-house staff in module development to create a continuity in student
education.
2. Office use - Grant # _______ Pg. 2
III. Briefly discuss if your project objectives tie in with initiatives or goals in your
department or the District (e.g., What makes a Bronxville education distinctive?)
This project ties in with the athletic department’s initiative to provide a safe and rewarding
environment for student athletes to participate in sports competition. It will also enable them to
maximize performance throughout their season.
IV. Briefly describe how your grant request aligns with the Foundation’s mission to enhance
the quality of public education in Bronxville by engaging the support and energies of
educators, citizens, parents, students, and alumni.
This grant aligns with the foundation’s mission to “support additional training for faculty members
and enhance the educational resources available to them.” Funding these courses will provide an
ongoing invaluable education for the student athletes at Bronxville.
V. How many students would benefit from this project? In which schools? In which
classes/activities?
The students that would most benefit from this project are Middle and High School athletes.
Whether they are receiving instruction with their teammates, in the gym during physical education,
or in the classroom during health this type of education many of them will carry outside the
classroom and incorporate it into their everyday lives.
VI. Does the implementation of the project rely on or affect other departments (e.g.,
technology, facilities, maintenance, administration)? If yes, briefly describe what other
departments are involved and your discussions with them.
This project can have a positive affect on the Physical Education Department and Science
(specifically the Health) Department. The information obtained at these courses can be taught in
modules during a class and very much tie into the goals trying to be achieved by the teachers in
these departments.
VII. PROJECT TIMETABLE
Starting date (or date of initial funding):
As soon as funding is available and courses are complete.
Intermediate benchmarks (if any):
Project completion date: project will continue on an ongoing basis, educating our athletes at
the start of every season on the importance of sports nutrition and incorporating a strength
program. Programs will be tailored to each sport specifically at the discretion of coaches and
the athletic trainer.
Please note that any grant funds not expended by June 30, 2017 will be considered as assets
available for future use by the Foundation. Multi-year grants will be considered on an
exception basis.

VIII. PROJECT ASSESSMENT
A project evaluation or Grant Status Report may be required within the year of your grant
award.
1. When should the project be evaluated? At the end of the 2016-2017 school year.
2. How and by whom will the project be evaluated? Please be specific about the milestones
or measurements that will be used in your project evaluation?
The project will be evaluated by the Bronxville coaching staff and student athletes via
survey/evaluation post-seminar. Andrea Zambrano will then make adjustments as needed.
It will also be evaluated and changed as needed for the physical education and health
department.
3. Will the project be continued at the end of this grant? If so, how will it be funded?
This project will continue at the end of this grant at the start of every season and will be
evaluated and updated on a continuous basis.
