2006 Fifa World Cup Taimaa Al-Mohanadi
Football is one of the amazing and fascinating sports in history. How ever, people do not know how the game of football got this far and how it became very important and pervious in some people’s/Player’s life. So in this Video, I would like to explain one of the Fifa world cups that helped football get this far which is the Fifa world cup 2006. This world cup was held from June 9th to July 9th 2006 and took place in Germany.
What is a Fifa World Cup? The Fifa world cup is a competition held around the world between different football teams in each country. The Fifa world cup is held every 4 years and over 160 national teams compete to take a place in the finals. F = Federation I = International F = Football A= Association
The Finalist First Place came Italia 1-1 While France came second place.
Finalists 3RD Came Germany 4th Came Portugal
The Score and How Italy Won At first, the game ended as draw 1-1. However, during the penalty kick shoot out they won 5-3.
Who Scored? Every footballer has his own technique and way they kick the ball in order to score a goal. One of the goals scored by Italy was kicked by Allessandro Del Piero.
Technique They Used Since it was a penalty kick there was no defender. In a penalty kick, the ball is supposed to be 12 yards (Approximately 11m) from the goal which is called a “Penalty Spot” . Allessandro Del Piero fake – feinted the goalie by making him think that he will shoot the ball into the left corner of the goalmouth but instead he kicked in the right corner.
What could the Goalie Have done? The Goalie could’ve observed the ball carefully and not be tricked by Allessandro Del Piero, also he could’ve waited till Allessandro kicked the ball because he straight away decided which part of the goal he is going to protect and judged where the ball is going to come from using Allessandro’s actions.
Goal 2 Another goal was scored by Materazzi. Well, the ball was a corner ball so Andrea Pirlo kicked into the goal are and then Materazzi scored a goal.
Technique They Used It was a corner ball and then Andrea Pirlo kicked it into the goal area (almost 3 meters from the ball) . After that Materazzi Front headed the ball into the goal to score the first goal. The ball he kicked went straight into the goal without changing directions so you could say it was a strike using the head.
What Could the Defenders have done? I think the defenders should have marked Materazzi because he was free and I think Andrea Pirlo aimed at him. I also think they did not do a great job because they ball was close and Italy had many advantages to the goal and every player was there and they were not spread out, and because of that the goalie could not see where the ball was coming from. I think the goalie could have jumped because from watching the video I realized that the goalie was very crowed and one of the defenders for Germany actually tried to catch the ball in place of the goalie.
Skills they Used You could say, that Andrea Pirlo had the skill of kicking a chip pass because it first went over head height but when it reached the goal area it lowered enough to get inside the goal. Also, Materazzi had the skill of shooting with his head, and I think he had great accuracy because It is really hard to shoot with your forehead when you are in a rush and your crowded by people.
