2. What does game sense mean?
• Game sense is a new method in which children develop their skills
and understanding of the game by getting actively engaged in it.
• They are having fun and learn too.
• Game Sense is facilitated through a dialogue between players and
between players and the teacher ( Shane,2014).
• It is inclusive of all the students.
• It is student-centred and based on enquiry based learning and
problem solving approach.
• Teachers have more equitable relationships with students.
• Participation is maximised (Knijnik, 2017).
3.
4. My idea as a mum and a teacher?
• Having fun decreases stress and lets the children learn without being worried
about winning or losing individually.
• Children interact and cooperate during the game and learn social and
interpersonal skills while doing HPE lessons.
• Parents need to look at play as inevitable part of children’s lives. Happy children
learn better.
• Learning fundamental movement skills are possible though different games. These
movements are basics of any physical activity.
• Invasion games are a part of Game sense. Students need to understand the game,
make decisions and act.
• Skills such as moving, problem solving, communication, interacting and decision
making are improved though Teaching Games for Understanding (TGfU) or as we
call it Game Sense in Australia.
