Hoop to Fingerdjupet - HF13
Finnmark platform - FP13
FP13
The project will cover the Finnmark platform proper, that was recently closed for
exploration activities. The targets are relatively shallow silisiclastic and carbonate
lithology in a generally north dipping platform.
The main targets are subtle structural and stratigraphic traps of Paleozoic age. Among
these, the 3D data will endeavour to image the weak seismic response of the Permian
sands discovered in well 7120/12-4. Carbonate plays of Permian or Carboniferous are
secondary targets. Additionally fractured basement in the southern shallow parts could
be a play model.
HF13
The eastern part of HF13 extends the Hoop 3D coverage out to the edge of the
Fingerdjupet sub Basin.
In this part, well defined large horsts with thicker lower Cretaceous overburden are
the main attractions. The Steinkobbe MB deep marine source rock should be greatly
developed in this area. Within the horsts, quality sandstones could exist in the lower
Carnian prograding units, Carnian channel systems, deltaic Mid Jurassic or in the Lower
Cretaceous prograding units in the overburden. In the Fingerdjupet sub-basin, wells
with shows have been drilled on large shallow rotated fault blocks. Interesting plays
could exist basinward the main fault to the Bjørnøya Basin. In a half circle east and
north of the Fingerdjupet wells, where the Mid Jurassic reservoirs and seal could be
better preserved. Further west along the Stappen High there are several south tilted
north trended Horst and Grabens, which could trap hydrocarbons in a narrow zone - here
Upper Jurassic is expected to be mature. The 3D data will help interpreters to find E-W
barriers, structurally or by facies changes, to trap migrating hydrocarbons.
