Dear Sir/Madam
We are writing to you as residents of 26 Springvale. We wish to strongly make objection to a
proposed development of lands on Stocking land. Planning No. SD18A/0225 . This land that will
be developed is directly behind our house. This site is significantly elevated vis a vis our land and
the distance between the proposed development and our back wall linearly is small but
trigonometry will make the proposed height of the building the equivalent of six floors not three.
We have already a wooden cambion structure holding back the back wall against the hill. Of our
six houses directly facing this proposed development this cambion structure rises from 12ft to 40
ft. See photo below .To put a three storey apartment block so near the end wall of the proposal
will seriously overlook and overshadow our house and impact on our light and more significantly
our privacy.
We have also a significant objection to our housing estate being opened up as a thoroughfare.
There is no reason for us to accept this. We have a quiet contained estate that is very safe and
secure for our children and grandchildren. There is one way in and one way out. Breaking out a
walkway is of no benefit to us as residents and I cannot accept that it benefits the new estate
either as the bus route runs up stocking lane in front of their estate. The builders can ensure the
safety of their proposed tenants to nearby amenities by building a safe walkway along the front of
stocking lane in similar fashion to the prospect development to use existing walkways to the local
schools and football grounds. An increase in night time activity and antisocial behaviour that
walkways encourage is unacceptable to us.
I can appreciate that houses and apartments are needed in Dublin,
however the impact of the placement of the apartments in this
development is a serious encroachment on our lives. We object to this
proposal.
