3. Introduction
In our society the English language has become over the years a necessity, rather than a
characteristic of the social elite. Its importance lies in labor demands and social development.
The English language has always been taught as an elementary subject in basic education
schools; however, few students have managed to succeed in english language acquisition, whose
results are reflected in the low levels of approval of the different standardized tests that exist to
measure this area. For this reason the doubt arises about what are the factors that affect the
greater or lesser learning of the English language, for this elements have been taken into account
such as: sociocultural level, motivation, Geographical Location and personal factors of learning
of each student.
In the development of this research, the degree of incidence of each of the aforementioned factors
will be clarified. The present has been dosed in three parts:
- Problematization: here everything concerning the problem to be investigated as such and its
importance is specified. The research hypotheses and the general and specific objectives that
allowed to guide the study are also established. And finally, the four variables of our research are
presented and specified together with their corresponding conceptual and operational definitions.
- The Theoretical Framework: is divided into 3: English Language Learning (Sex), Sociocultural
Level (Geographical Location), and Motivation.
Research Methodology: it begins by referring to the paradigm from which this research has been
proposed, which is developed from a quantitative methodology. Also, the results of statistical
processing have been included. The data are separated and graphed according to the variables and
subsequently comparisons are made between those who were part of the sample.
- In the conclusions, the results and analyses that were developed are specified.
It should be noted that the study revealed that sociocultural level and geographical location are
important factors to consider when analyzing English language learning. Finally, the Review was
incorporated with the texts consulted and the Annexes that were useful in this study, as well as
the tests applied with their respective guidelines of corrections and their respective results.

4. CHAPTER I:THEORETICALAND METHODOLOGICAL DESIGNOF RESEARCH
Problem statement
The search for solutions and new teaching strategies have been forced to change due to the low
level of foreign language learning in the country; through research, some progress has been
made in solving this problem, but there are still quite a few shortcomings.
The factors that have been considered in this research are not the exception either, previous
studies have already set precedents with respect to the factors mentioned above such as:
Sociocultural level, motivation, geographical location and sex; all focused on learning.
Another factor that influences the learning of English is the emotional environment, it is not
enough for institutions to worry about implementing initiatives to students and employees if
they do not have the interest to do so. As Santana et al. (2016) comments:
The affective field includes a variety of factors: empathy, self-esteem, extraversion, inhibition,
imitation, anxiety, attitudes, among others. Attitudes towards the language are of particular
importance because, the greater the learner's interest in the language and its culture, the easier
it will be to learn. Attitude is closely linked to motivation. (Mexico, 2020).
Regarding the sociocultural level, there are some studies that have sought to establish the
relationship of this with learning, as is the case of Isabel Mata Coca (2001) who carried out a
work called "Influence of the sociocultural environment on performance", where she analyzed
the performance of students from primary schools belonging to three different sociocultural
levels.The purpose was to check the influence of the different contexts on the maturation
processes of the students through basic cultural learning.The results confirm that
environments are determinants in performance when measured with instruments sensitive to
what we can establish as school intelligence.
Socioeconomic status is directly related to your sociocultural level and together significantly
influence english language learning.
Main goal Identify the level of influence of factors such as: socioeconomic level, geographical location,
motivation and personal factors that affect the learning of the English language in the students
of the third grade of the technical secondary school no. 126 located in Icalumtic,Chamula,
Chiapas

5. Specific goals • Measure the sociocultural level of the students that make up the sample.
• Measure the motivation of the students who are part of the sample.
• Establish the geographical location of the students that make up the sample
• Identify the sex of the students who make up the sample
• Measure the level of English language proficiency of the students who make up
the sample.
• Correlate the data obtained (according to variables) in the measurements.
• Analyze the data in a descriptive and inferential way.
Justification The benefits expected from this research refer to the fact that having a clear level of influence
that the factors studied have, it is possible that teachers can develop and plan better
strategies so that their students achieve greater use in the acquisition of the English language.
Context description Technical high school no. 126 is located in the rural area of Icalumtic,Chamula,Chis.
Students from this community come to the secondary school level with two mother tongues:
Tzotzil and Spanish; of which the Spanish language is mostly not very developed.

Se trata de una herramienta vital para el avance científico, porque permite comprobar o
descartar hipótesis con parámetros fiables.

Población se refiere al universo, conjunto o totalidad de elementos sobre
los que se investiga o hacen estudios. Muestra es una parte o subconjunto
de elementos que se seleccionan previamente de una población para
realizar un estudio.
Técnicas e instrumentos.
Las técnicas son de hecho, recursos o procedimientos de los que se vale el investigador
para acercarse a los hechos y acceder a su conocimiento y se apoyan en instrumentos
para guardar la información.

7. CHAPTER II.THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK

A foreign language is defined by Muñoz (2002) as a language that "has no presence in the community in which
the learner lives. For example, English is a second language for a Mexican immigrant in the United States, while
it is a foreign language for a student in Spain." In the present research the foreign language object of study is
English, which in Mexico is considered in this way since, as the author indicates, it has no presence in the local
community, however it is the most important foreign language in our country and in the whole world.
The English language has become an extremely useful tool in recent years in the labor and social world,
because many companies from various economic sectors include as a requirement to be able to be part of them
to have a certain degree of mastery of this language in addition to the varied applications related to our social
and recreational life make the English language a key that opens doors to horizons that otherwise would
remain close.
When learning a foreign language, spoken language is paramount, as the structure of the system must go hand
in hand with the sound system. Students need to know the significant characteristics of the language, in this
case English, such as word order.
Learning a language means acquiring the ability to communicate, formulate and answer questions, make
statements, and produce normal, authentic forms (words, phrases, sentences, etc.) that are used by native
speakers.

In his book "Verbal Behavior" (1957), Burrhus Skinner conceives the process of linguistic acquisition as a
series of habits that imitate and repeat, over and over again, responses to specific stimuli or responses to
conditioned associations. He says that the human being has nothing innate when it comes to learning
language, since you have to see it as one more behavior and, from there, see how it is modified.
It also clarifies that it does not matter if the stimulus is observable or not, as in any other human learning
process, because the important thing in this case is the response, verbal or not, but consolidated, to the
existence of the stimulus.
The verbal response or not, refers to the fact that humans not only learn behaviors, but also patterns of
social behavior (skills, representations, attitudes) and procedural contents (learning strategies, thinking,
etc.). When a response is consolidated after several repetitions, this is already for man a form of behavior.
The individual then enriches his vision of the world, because he transforms, increases, decreases, modifies
and is able to offer answers. Verbal behavior is characterized because it has reinforcements, the child
learns language through operant conditioning. Reinforcements modify that response.
The innate or language acquisition theory that was formulated by the psycholinguist Noam Chomsky in the
late fifties, states that children are biologically programmed for language and that languages develop in
the child in the same way other biological functions develop.
According to Chomsky, language acquisition resembles the learning process of walking and the
environment makes a basic contribution. His theory emerged as a reaction to the behaviorist theory of
learning based on imitation and habit formation. (1959)
This is why he uses innate theory to explain language learning, as he states that all human beings have
innate abilities that allow us to develop language.
Chomsky argues that behaviorists do not recognize what is called "The Logical Problem of Language
Acquisition." It is about children getting to know more about the structure of their language than can
reasonably be expected, in order to learn on the basis of the language samples they learn. The type of
language the child is exposed to is full of confusing information and does not provide all the information
the child needs.
