1. PANDA STORY – STORY OF THE FALLEN AND THE RISE
Everyone knows Panda right? Cute animals, love to eat Bamboo, China’s symbolic creature and
so on… Nowadays they are known as lazy, cute creature and also as a sign of peace. Facts about Panda,
they are anti-social aka solitary creatures. They do not fear of predator because of his size. Panda are
classified as carnivorous, but his diets are primarily herbivorous. Also, who doesn’t know about their so
famous spotted black mark in their whole body?
Long long time ago in times before human, there was a valiant General Pang (Fat), the bravest
Panda and the ancestor of the Panda family as we know now. He is known as a loyal and devoted
General that serves the Emperor for several decades already. He has a strong figure and the whitest fur
and widely known as the “Purest General of the East”. He was loved and admired by the people.
Despite his calm figure, he is also a fierce warrior. People who are very close with him
sometimes will describe him as short-tempered. There were story that he once destroyed an entire
family household because they burn the bamboo forest. He slaughtered the entire household without
any mercy. Also many other stories and rumors circulate among the people regarding General Pang tales
and legendary stories.
However, by being so mighty and so pure, he has so many enemies that want him suffer, from
outside and also inside the country. Many people are jealous about his reputation and want to taint it.
Just as the idiom says, “A tall tree attracts the wind”. Thus, one moment of carelessness make even the
purest one to fall to a trap. This is not a story of the rise, but the fall of General Pang, and the beginning
of the trademarked black spots of Panda that we know now. The beginning of a tragedy that marks the
rise of the Panda.
It began when the war with the Wolf Barbarian had taken place for about five years. There was
no clear winner yet in this war. The kingdom and the Barbarian were at a stalemate. This war dragged
on and on, and the people are the one that suffered.
Then suddenly, in one unfortunate year, the Kingdom suffered from a long drought. All the
entire Kingdom crops are dry and can no longer support the military supply. People were famished
because of the shortage of food and the war still commenced. The entire army morale suddenly hit the
rock bottom.
The Emperor must ask for help to the neighboring savage country to gain ration. That is the only
solution that can be achieved at that time. However, in exchange for rations, they demanded the
daughter of the Duke to be sent as a gift. The Emperor has no choice but to comply with their request.
Soon, the Duke Mao’s daughter was appointed as the one to be sent. In addition to that,
General Pang was appointed to be her escort to go to the neighboring country and escort back the
supply that the military desperately needs. General Pang was sent together with his best friend General
Hong.
2. Little did the Emperor know, Duke Mao’s daughter and General Pang are very best friend. Also,
both of them has secret crush for each other. General Pang feels conflicted between his feelings and
bounded by duty, trapped between the interest of his people or his personal matter. However, because
of his virtuous and saint morality, he decided to prioritize the people interest first.
When General Pang embarked on the mission, Minister She (Snake) who once had a quarrel
with General Pang thought this was a good idea to get rid of him once and for all. He sent message to
the Savage King with ransoms to propose for a plan. After that, he went to the Emperor with several
people that he had gathered and begins to influence the Emperor.
Minister She reassured the Emperor that General Pang would not brought back any ration
because Duke Mao’s daughter was very close to General Pang. He told the Emperor that he swore on his
entire household that General Pang would fail. In addition to that, he is convinced that General Pang
would revolt. The Emperor didn’t trust what Minister She said at all.
After all that, Minister She still proposed a plan to the Emperor. He persuades the Emperor to
send another General to replace General Pang or the unwanted would happen. Still, the Emperor cannot
be swayed and trust the valiant General Pang with all his heart. Minister She knew. So, he proposed
another plan, by using the people’s name in the Kingdom, he hoped the Emperor to reassure the people
by giving announcement to them. Minister She bet on his entire household and hoped the Emperor
would do the same to General Pang. The Emperor trusted on General Pang skills did as what Minister
She told.
Back to General Pang’s journey, he and his armies kept escorting to the border of the Savage
Country. Their parties go to the Valley of The Lost that was the gate to the Savage Country. The whole
valley was surrounded by forest and fog. As soon as they passed that Valley, a big fire started near that
valley and a band of mercenary started rushing to kill the entire armies. General Pang tried to resolve
the situation asked General Hong and the Princess to keep going as he would hold back those mercenary
troops.
With his weapon of choice, the bamboo claws and bamboo shooter, General Pang successfully
defeated half of the mercenary troops. He fought for half a day and at last managed to kill the
mercenary leader. However, he discovered something odd about the leader, at the end of his last
breath, he laughed and said, “Your doom is coming near now, dragging you with my death make me feel
at peace….”. His words made General Pang shivered. He rushed back to General Hong and the Princess’
side.
General Pang realized those mercenary weren’t trying to attack him. They just wanted them to
be separated long enough from each other. Soon, they actually caught up with General Hong’s party
only to discover that they had been had. The entire armies of General Hong were slaughtered in
merciless way. General Hong was found lifeless and covered in blood. Also, the carriage was broken and
was on fire.
General Pang rushed to the inside of the carriage and found Princess Mao. She was mortally
wounded but still able to breath. She uttered her last words to General Pang, “Unfortunate, heaven
3. doesn’t grant us to be together in this life, I just hope we can be together in the next one.”. After she
said that, she passed away in General Pang’s hands.
General Pang was devastated of this event that took place. He was furious and ordered the
remaining army to search for some clue of the attacker. Suddenly, they found one of the attackers who
were wounded, but still alive. General Pang rushed and interrogate him, choked him with his bamboo
claw. The soldier felt no fear, laugh and said, “Long live the savages”.
General Pang whose judgment had been clouded ordered the entire army that was still with him
to accompany him to the Savage Country to exact revenge and obtain back the rations by force. They
went and walked for day and night. Eventually, they reached the city wall. They rushed and brutally
murdered every person that they met. General Pang who was still in grief destroyed and burned down
every village that he met around the city wall.
Despite the few numbers of troops left, they reached the inner city wall. However, General Pang
is still a mortal and his fierceness decrease. Moreover, his last push towards the inner city wall cost
many of his troops’ life. At last, he’s being pushed back by the Savages troops. He had no choice but to
retreat, but on his way back, he kept being attacked.
Upon reaching back to the Kingdom, every single troop of his had already died. He shamefully
returns to the palace to report this bad news to the Emperor. Because of Minister She plots and rumors
that had circulated among the people, the Emperor had no choice but to punish General Pang by the
execution of the entire household. However, because of his legendary past, his life was spared. And
thus, every failure in these events was blamed to him.
Being shamed, disgraced and tormented, the once mighty General Pang lost everything in this
war. His pride, his families, his best friend, his armies, and his loved one. The losses of the rations were
also blamed to him. The war that was lost because lack of rations to supply the military was also became
his responsibilities. And the people, who once admired him now turn against him because of their
suffering after the war.
People were affected by the rumors. They were disgusted of him. Everywhere he went, he was
being insulted at. Being disgraced and hated by the people, he decided to left the Kingdom once and for
all.
He walked and walked trying to forget those humiliations. He cried and frustrated every time he
remembered his action. He reminisced his past and also his failures. He hit everything he met, rocks,
boulders, tree trunks, tried to feel physical pain so that he could forget his painful experiences in his
heart.
He went to the mountain to grief himself. He was frustrated, angry, and devastated. He
remembered his glorious time. The time when people admired him, the time when he and his brother-in
-arm General Hong who fought together with him always supported him. He remembered his family,
how he plays together with them at the peace time. He also remembered Princess Mao’s cute smile,
4. cuteness and beauty when he visited her in the palace. Once he finished in reminiscing his past glory and
how he lost them all, he began crying and started remembering his past regretted action.
He remembered how he was short-tempered and picked a fight whenever he wanted. He
remembered his failure and rashness in making a decision. He remembered how he slaughtered the
innocent villager of Savage Country that had no idea what happened. His hands suddenly smelled blood;
he kept hitting and scratching the rocks inside the mountain cave to try to drown the smell.
Days and years passed as he was going through the same routine. His hands and legs’ fur turned
black. His eyes socket also turned black because of his crying. He meditated and kept doing through the
same activity over and over again. Until one day, he at last got revelation. He attains his peace in one
spring day. He realized what’s done is done and started going back to life to continue his journey. And
that is when he found out that the people had already realized that the rumors about him were all lies.
They regretted it and honored also worshipped General Pang as it should be.
And that is how Panda nowadays acquired all the black spot in their body. The black spot is the
tainted mark of failure in their story of success. That is how Panda behave too nowadays. They are now
at peace, calm, and very patience. They are admired by people, and also although they had let go of the
past, they still remembered the failure by their behavior. They are anti-social because sometimes they
still grief. They are afraid that the one close to them will leave again.
That’s how the stories of Panda go. Their cuteness was once filled with bravery. Their big
exterior figures were so fragile back then. The innocent creatures were tainted with regrets. The calm
one was once the fiercest warrior. And that’s all changed now because they are now already at peace.
5. CROW STORY – STORY OF THE GRUDGE HOLDER
There are many habits and traits of crows that rise questions. Several scientific facts state that
they are creatures that have a high level of intelligence and adaptability. Moreover, they have high
communication skills and problem solving abilities. They are also capable in telling their friends to avoid
certain dangers via their communication skills.
Though, there are some nature and personalities of crows that are widely known by people.
Crows are creature known to be disturbing, noisy, troublemakers and in fable stories are often
associated with creatures that like to fool other creatures.
There is another thing that is popular about crows. The crow is known as a vengeful creature.
Red eyes with cruel and cynical stares in their silence on the power cord while looking at their prey. This
is consistent with scientific facts proven by researchers.
Crows are proven to have the ability to remember human faces, and apparently if they don’t like
you they won’t forget you either. Some scientists who trapped some crows for research made this
discovery when the crows would constantly heckle them whenever they walked into the lab. They came
to realize that the crows actually held a grudge against the people who had trapped them. Interestingly
enough, the children of the crows would later carry on the same grudge.
However, does anyone understand the origin of the reasons crows do this? For every action or
habit formed, there is, of course the initial cause that triggered it. This story explains the vengeful nature
possessed by the crows.
Long ago, crows and human ancestors were close friends. They were friends in the struggle in
passing the rigors of life in the wild. Once upon a time, crows were very friendly animals, well behaved,
obedient and also they were man's best friends besides from the dog ancestor (aka the wolf). They were
an inseparable pair.
In ancient times, humans and crows explored the wild together to find food. Crows search for
prey and tell humans the position and their heading direction, while humans will prepare traps in the
direction of the prey. In this way, humans and crows can get through these hard days, day after day
continue living in the wild.
The routine continues from day to day, to month after month. Their friendship is getting thicker
and closer. As time passes, crows become smarter and have high intelligence so they can trap their own
prey.
Until one afternoon, when they were looking for prey, humans looked from the mountains,
there was a dashing shadow. With a fluttering of strong and magnificent wings, a dark shadow covers
the bright, blue sky. That creature is the mighty eagle. With its strong wings, strong claws, and sharp
beak, it fascinates humans to make them friends in the hunt.
Humans are looking towards the mountains where the eagle's original habitat is to invite him to
work together. Man has imagined what he can do with eagles. With the power of an eagle, humans no
6. longer need to try hard to set a trap because the claws of an eagle can weaken its prey directly. This
means that hunting results can be doubled in one day. The eagles agreed and finally they lived together.
Eagles, crows, and humans live together in the caves. Though, the eagles were not happy with
the presence of the crows. They did not like his position to be equated with the existence of the crows.
They wanted to be his only human companion and be his only companion that he can trust.
Then, the eagles lure the crows by taunting it and teasing it. They tried to ignite the crow
emotions. Then, the eagles gave the crow an opportunity to hurt him for a little. From there on, the
trust and friendship of humans against the crows began to decline.
The eagles managed to carry out its plan to slander the crow. They made a noise from the
crow's cage every night. This was done continuously so that humans become very disturbed by the
noise. Humans forget their friendship and togetherness with the crows.
With those plan, the eagle makes the man just forget his best friend. The angry and
disappointed crow left the human just like that. He felt of no use anymore to be friends with these
humans. He was disappointed because the human did not listen to his explanation at all. In fact, people
go along accusing him of doing actions that he did not do.
The hatred of those slander towards them changed the crows. He shouted out their anger every
day loudly until his voice turns hoarse. His friendly behavior turned violent because his trust was
betrayed by humans. He was very angry and vowed to show their vengeance towards those human.
From then on, the crow became a vengeful creature. He really hates humanity for accusing him
something he was not. His disappointment was passed down to his descendants who assume that
humans were enemies and cannot be trusted. They make people nervous to always remember what
humans have done to them. They interfered with humans according to slander that was thrown at
them. They reciprocate human cruel actions with rude and naughty behavior to the present.
In addition, the eagle also became an eternal enemy and predator of the crows. The crow hated
the eagle and his descendants to this day. The slander carried out by the eagle makes him highly trusted
and exalted while the crow himself becomes a creature that was hated by humans. This grudge and
resentment cannot be buried anymore and they became an eternal enemy until the present day.
