The Sinhalese people originated from a princess of Kalinga (present-day Orissa and Andhra Pradesh in India) who married a lion and later married her brother, giving birth to 32 children including Vijaya and Sumitha. Vijaya and his soldiers started terrorism in their kingdom and were exiled to an island known as Lanka (present-day Sri Lanka). There, Vijaya married a Tamil princess named Kuveni and their children became the early Sinhalese people. Kuveni was later killed by the people after being banished by Vijaya. 3. THE BEGINNING - I
Around 500 BC, 2500 years ago Suppa devi princess of Kalinga (present-day
Orissa and some parts of AP ) married a lion and gave birth to Sinhabahu and
Sinhasivali and later Sinhabahu kills his father and marries his own sister and
gave birth to 32 children. Vijaya and Sumitha , they are twins and eldest. Prince
Vijaya with some soldiers started terrorism in their kingdom. The people told the
king Sinhabahu to kill his son but unwilling to kill his own son he kidnaps his son
and his soldiers to other country. At last they reach an island known as lanka
(present-day Sri Lanka) .In that island they found many similarities with their
language and Tamil. So they settled there. He married a Tamil princess Kuveni
and his soldiers married some Tamil girls there. Their children are the present
Sinhala people. Kuveni listens to vijaya‘s words and always give disturbance to
the people. Suddenly he leaves his two sons and order his wife to go out of the
kingdom but she leaves with her children and she was killed by the people.
4. THE BEGINNING - II
Before her death she cursed him that no one will succeed the kingdom after him.
After that the Sinhalese people increases and captured the government of
tamilians. In the middle Sri Lanka was ruled by Tamil chola kings, Portuguese,
Dutch and British people in the following centuries. After Buddhism become
famous in Asia. Some Sinhalese Buddhists didn't understand the religion properly
and attacked the Islamic Sinhalese people. The British stopped the attack and
arrested the head of the attackers and a Tamil scholar went to Britain and
requested them to release the Sinhalese leader. They accepted the request and
released them. After that Sinhalese people increased and Tamil people
decreased. The Sinhalese people did not give any respect to Tamil people. In
1948 Sri Lanka got independence from British. Senanayake was the first president
of Sri Lanka. After nine months, he got into the work to kill Tamil people and Tamil
Language. They made their language as a national language and changed the
rules that people who doesn’t know the language can’t get jobs in government.
There’s a lot happened in the 60 years, they killed nearly 2,00,000 Tamil people but
still no response for sri lanka people
5. IMPORTANT POINTS
The people from a far place is now killing the Tamil people who were living
there from the beginning.
The curse of Kuveni is the reason for the political problems in Srilanka even
now.
Srilankans killed nearly 2,00,000 Tamil people.
