2. Air is the natural gift to all living
organisms. It is the most essential
ingredient of life. Entire living creatures
on the earth can not live without air.
Air is mixture of gases that forms
earths atmosphere. The natural or
fresh air contains 20.95 oxygen , 78.00
of nitrogen , 0.03 carbon-dioxide and
carbon-monoxide.
3. If this ratio is disturbed owing to
presence of any foreign substance in it
the air can not be said to be fresh air .
Rather , it would the polluted or
continuated air , unfit for use . To
preserve the quality of air and control
of air pollution, the Indian parliament
enacted the Air Prevention and Control
of pollution Act 1981.
4. 1.With the increasing industrialisation and the
tendency of majority of industries to
congregate in areas which are already heavily
industrialised, the problem lf air pollution has
begun to the felt in the country. The problem
is acute in those heavily industrialised areas
which are also densely populated. Short-term
studies conducted by the NEERI Nagpur have
confirmed that the cities of Kolkata, Mumbai,
Delhi, are facing the impact of air pollution
on a stability increasing level.
5. 2.The presence in air beyond certain limit of
various pollutants discharge though
industrial emissions and from creation
human activities connected with traffic,
heating, use of domestic fuel, refuse
incinerations etc..., has a detrimental affect
on the health of the people as also on
animal life, vegetation and property.
6. 3.In the united nation conference on the
human environments held in Stockholm in
June 1972, in which India participated,
decision were taken to take appropriate steps
for the preservation of the natural resources
of the earth, which among others, include the
preservation of the quality of air and control
lf air pollution.
7. 4.If is felt that there should be integrated
approach for tackling the environmental
problems relation to pollution. It is therefore
proposed that the central board for the
prevention and control lf air pollution and of
the state board for the privation and control
of air pollution.
