1. SpringHill Camps Service Day
Question 1: Who did you serve, and what did you accomplish that day?
SpringHill Camps which use to be Redbrush Park. The park sat vacant for almost 6 years
before SpringHill purchased. It is located approximately 20 miles southeast of Columbus and
serves kids and families from across the county. Today we helped with renovation of teepeestyle dorms by removing walls and bunks. These dorms will be updated for weather-friendliness,
ease of care, improved comfort, and lower cost of maintenance. They currently have seven
teepees in one camping area and the job was so big, it took 10 people the entire day to strip two
teepees.
Question 2: What is your team's plan for an ongoing relationship with the nonprofit?
SpringHill Camp is supported as part of a larger community service project by Cummins and will
continue to be supported yearly. Personally, my family supports SpringHill by attending retreats
and sending my kids to summer camp.
Question 3: What would your nonprofit do if they won part of the prize money?
Camper scholarships- SpringHill believes any child should come to camp despite physical,
emotional, socio-economic or spiritual constraints. They had planned to give away 3500
scholarships this past summer and 4500 qualified children applied. They are looking to find
additional partnerships to help close the gap.
SpringHill may also choose to divide the prize by applying to a matching grant towards new
construction for residential retreat center (4 season permanent housing). This project will help
physically grow the camp to make it inviting for many more groups to utilize the property.
