1. Brucellosis is caused by different species of the Brucella
group of organisms and characterized by intermittent or irregular
febrile attacks, with profuse sweating, arthritis and an enlarged
spleen. It is also known as Undulant fever, Malta fever or
Mediterranean fever in Humans. It is spread to human through
direct or indirect contact with infected animals
Susceptible animals like cattle, sheep. goats, swine,
buffaloes, horses and dogs are act as reservoir through which
disease may spread to humans. It causes economic loss for
the people who fully depends on livestock production.
Infection transmitted through direct contact with infected
tissues, blood, urine, vaginal discharge, aborted fetuses and
especially placenta via abraded skin, mucosa or conjunctiva
OR ingestion of raw milk, dairy products or contaminated food
products and water from infected animals OR through nasal
route by inhaling infected dust
* Slaughtering of infected animals after diagnosing paid
compensation to farmers
* Rapid identification and treatment of infected Humans
* Personal hygienic practices like enforcement of WASH
and consider every animal as infected while handling
* Safe disposal of excreta as well as wastes produced from
aborted animals
* last but not least utilize available vaccine against brucella
for animals and human who in close contact with animals
* Regular check up with veterinary doctors
