Royersford Sign and Rain Garden Project
Royersford , Pennsylvania
The Royersford Wayfinding Sign, Interpretive Sign and Rain Garden
Project completed critical wayfinding and stormwater improvements
between the Royersford Riverfront Park and Trail, Main Street business
districts, and the Schuylkill River Trail. A total amount of $ 37,947.70
was invested in this project with the support of a 50% local match grant
from the Schuylkill River National and State Historical Area Mini-Grant
Program. The local match of $ 18,269.85 was invested by the Borough
of Royersford and $ 704.00 by the Borough of Spring City.
Signs were placed at various locations within the Borough of Royersford
and the Borough of Spring City
Wayfinding signs including a Water Trail Blade direct visitors•
to the Royersford Main Street Business District, the Spring City
Business District, the Schuylkill River Trail, the existing Royersford
Riverfront Trail and Park south along 1st Avenue and the future
extension northward along the river 5) Royersford Victory Park and
6) Royersford Schuykill River Landing within the Riverfront Park.
Interpretive Signs were placed to educate visitors and residents of•
important environmental and historic aspects of Foundry Park and
the Riverfront Park and Trail, and will complement other interpretive
signs already installed at Foundry Park and the Riverfront Park and
Trail. Two signs focus on environmental education: to explain the
importance of the rain garden, how it is constructed and the plant
materials used and to explain the importance of and components
of a riparian buffer. Two additional interpretive signs interpret the
history of the Royersford Foundry for which Foundry Park is named
and the early 20th century history
of the Riverfront property that has
become the Riverfront Park.
