3. How To Reduce Vibration ????
All Industrial machines generate vibrations and these vibrations are damaging the internal parts, bearing
gears and shafts of the machine.
For ex. Vibrations in Generators can travel through an entire building structure and cause annoyance and
constant irritation to the building inhabitants. Similarly, a large compressor mounted on a factory rooftop
can create massive vibrations during intermittent start-ups and stops. While you can reduce vibrations in
these machines by following proper maintenance schedules, the truth is that eventually when the
machine (generator or compressor or motor or pump) gets older, the maintenance costs and maintenance
downtime increases. In this case, vibrations are not totally UN-avoidable. The machines will vibrate. But
what can be easily accomplished is mounting the machine on new Anti Vibration Pads. The Anti Vibration
Pads are made from vibration absorbing materials like springs, rubber or air. The major advantage of
these Anti Vibration Pads is that while they do not stop the actual vibrations inside the machine, they can
effectively isolate all vibrations being produced by the machine. In other words, the vibrations produced
by the machine are not transmitted beyond the Anti Vibration Pads

10. Seismosys Technologies isolators come in a big range of static
deflection to offer highly efficient vibration isolation system for
any application. Roof top HVAC installations require minimum
static deflection of 15mm and if the equipment’s are slow speed (~500
rpm) the static deflection should be 25mm. Rubber anti vibration pad with
static deflection in the range of 6 to 8mm is too stiff to provide
any significant isolation. In fact, it would amplify the vibrations
due to resonance with slow operating speeds. Highly flexible
spring isolators are the right choice.
Roof top installations needs high static deflections and the same can vary from 10mm – 30mm leading to vertical
natural frequency ranging from 5 Hz to less than 3 Hz. Low operational speeds are best isolated with high flexibility.
Single spring sleeve damping isolators is used for lighter loads and multistring sleeve damping for heavier load. The
larger base plate of SR type shock mounts reduces the load bearing capacity requirements of the roof slabs.
Vibration & Structure borne noise transmission can be almost completely avoided using isolators directly under the
chillers. Inertia mass may not be necessary.
Seismosys Technologies offers Isolation for Diesel Generator Sets. DG-sets using spring support has been a great
success in the world market in competition to the standard rubber support systems. Our system with very low
natural frequency offers high vibration isolation efficiency in the range of 95%. Life of the mounts is high, hence no
replacement or maintenance – only one time cost. The mounts do not react with the leaked oil of the DG set,
whereas a rubber pad has the tendency to expand when contact with oil or any fluid. Bolting to the machine or to
the foundation is not necessary.

11. The blower inside the Air Handling Unit (AHU) rotating at high
speeds can cause heavy vibrations, especially when they are
located on steel structure or roof tops. High Static deflection
spring isolators works very well especially if the support
structure is flexible. Since it is difficult to predict where the AHU
will be placed it is always better to go with static deflection
between 15 to 25mm. There are improved designs over the
open spring type isolators. The spring is enclosed in self-locking
type housing
AHU
12. Pipework supports - Spring Hangers
Seismosys Technologies spring hangers (SSH) are designed to design to isolate
suspended sources of both noise and vibration. Suspended mechanical equipment
such as in-line fans, cabinet fans and piping and piping and ductworks. These are
available in a wide range of load and static deflection selections.
The spring deflection for the piping from the chillers and pumps has deflection equal
to the rotating equipment. Pipes supported off the floating floor have deflection to
provide very low natural frequency.
14. Centrifuges
Vibration control of centrifuges is always recommended, as they are sitting on
flexible steel structures in most cases and the natural frequencies are always in
the range of the centrifuge speed. To keep the response motion within limits
when passing through resonances of the spring supported centrifuge especially
during the operation of a centrifuge with variable speed in such a resonance,
damping is of extreme importance. For these cases our spring units with
integrated visco-damping fluids will provide the necessary Isolation.
Embroidery Machines Installed at upper floors can cause high vibration
transmission. Isolation are multi spring mounts that can eliminate vibration
transmission. Seismosys Technologies Vibration mounts work with 90%
vibration efficiency, vibrations are not felt even while standing next to the
machine.
We have been appreciated by our clients for their increase in productivity, as
our mounts help the machine run smoothly at rated speeds and less amount
of thread breakage. The four corners of the machine feets are supported on
multi-spring SR type isolators, and center legs(if any) on the single spring
type isolators.
The conventional anti vibration pads or rubbr pads mounts don`t work well
on Embroidery machines due to the resonance between the rubber mounts
and the operating speed range of 500 to 800 stiches per minute. In fact, the
rubber feet do more harm to the Embroidery machine. Our mounts keep the
machines running smoothly with lesser wear and tear, leading to better
machine availability and lesser maintenance.
In many a cases where rubber mounts were observed to produce high internal
vibrations and high vibration transmission, replacing them anti-vibration
spring mounts solved the problem completely.
Embroidery Machines
15. Presses
Metal working presses create shock vibration in the frequency range between
10 to 20 Hz depending on their frame construction. Taller presses are expected
to create lower frequencies, whereas the shorter and sturdier press frame
frames are likely to create high frequency vibration.
The shock mount require under the presses needs to absorb and dissipate this
energy. Impact energy is consumed by the work piece with in the press frame,
however the shock frequencies get transmitted through the ground and can be
felt as vibration, even at long distances from the press. These shock frequencies
need to be isolated to allow vibration free neighborhood.
Presses on spring isolators are expected to move in response to any
imbalance/inertia forces in the machine however, such an effect can be
controlled by distancing the spring units further apart. Vibration damping by
the conventional rubber mounts is not very effective in case of presses and
there is hardly any isolation, one can easily feel the vibrations near the presses
on rubber mounts. Though the presses on rubber anti vibration pad may look
stable but, the foundation experiences good amount of dynamic load.
We at Seismosys have Anti Vibration mounts with controlled damping which is
provided by using visco-elastic gel. The damping is such that, the energy gets
dissipated and at the same time press comes to rest well within the next stroke.
Typically. In a press shop there can be sensitive machines like CMM`s,
Machining centers and tool room machinery. Performances of these sensitive
machines can be affected by the press vibrations. Spring support of presses
eliminates vibration transmission to these sensitive machines and they can be
located closer to the presses.
The alignment of a rigidly mounted press can change over time due to loosening
of foundation bolts due to oil seepage, where as a spring supported press is an
“always” aligned machine. Since the dynamic load is almost completely
absorbed by the Seismosys Isolators, smaller presses i.e. weighing up to 20 tons
can be easily supported directly on the shop floor without constructing a
foundation. This allows flexibility to relocate the presses easily, when required.
16. Forging Hammer
The impact energy is consumed by work piece with in the hammer frame however, the shock
frequencies get transmitted through ground and can be felt as vibrations, even at longer
distances from the hammer.
These shock frequencies need to be isolated to allow vibration free neighborhood.
Transmission of these frequencies depends on the soil frequency. The soil frequencies vary
with the type of soil like rocky, loose or hard soil condition. The soil damping varies from
being very low in rocky condition to very high in loose soil condition. Vibration transmission
is high when the soil damping is low.
17. Coal Crushers
Vibration isolation of crushers is a must as the random frequencies generated by
crushing can cause resonance in steel structure and lead to failures. The safe way is to
isolate using highly flexible springs with adequate damping. Conventional anti
vibration mounts or nati vibrational materials do not work in these cases.
Crushers’ isolation is a specialized design and involves a big inertia mass that sits on a
well-designed vibration isolation system comprising of spring units and visco-elastic
dampers.
High imbalance/inertia forces of crusher require concrete block inertia mass to
stabilize the installation. Seismosys Technologies can design & supply the complete
vibration isolation system including the RC block civil engineering with static and
dynamic analysis of the RC block.
The spring units are pre-stressable, can be inserted or removed in compressed (locked)
condition. The visco-elastic dampers can be integrated in to the spring units or can be
external stand-alone dampers.
18. Wire rope mounts SWM
Sensitive and expensive machinery like medical
equipment’s, lab equipment’s etc., need to be protected
against the harsh effects of bumpy roads. Wire Rope
isolators come in handy, as they can provide high
flexibility combined with high lateral resistance.
SWM types anti vibration mounts are made with special
anti-vibration rubber to delay ageing and resistant to
heat and oil. The mount is specially shaped to provide for
high static deflection that would be needed to isolate the
lower frequencies.
With SWM anti vibration feet to the packed sensitive
equipment, vehicle can cruise on rough roads, without
having to worry about the cargo.

20. Seismosys Isolation for Building & Structures
Earthquakes are vibrational motion of the grounds on which the
structures stand. Motion induced in the structures by earthquakes
is closely related to the vibrational characteristics of the structures.
When the natural periods of the structure are close to those of the
prevailing ground motion, the motion of the structures can be
destructive. This type of motion can often be controlled by means
of anti-vibration technology quite commonly referred to as seismic
isolation.
