A recent survey conducted by Apartment Guide revealed the features that are most important to
people seeking apartments. Based on data from 4,000 respondents, the survey confirmed that price
and location are the top factors.
More than a third of renters said they are moving to save money, and nearly a third said they wish
to move closer to their workplace. In addition to price and proximity to work, 52 percent of
renters consider the neighborhood, and 39 percent base their decision on the included utilities.
Other lifestyle needs also impact the decision on apartment rentals. For instance, 19 percent of
renters said they are seeking a pet-friendly apartment, and 18 percent reported looking for
apartments that accommodate people with disabilities.
