11. Do you remember the dreams you had when you were young?
Those ambitious aspirations about a rich, powerful and exciting lifestyle you often imagined?
Do you remember being sure you would one day attain them?

you preferred keeping them to yourself to avoid being discouraged by those who thought they
were unattainable.

13. I remember a certain high-performer in my high school who used to get A’s in all tests and exams.
One day after an exam, he was unhappy about a particular question he had failed to answer and
was going on and on about how he should have been more diligent in his preparation for the exam.
Another of his classmates, tired of his wallowing, remarked, “You always get the highest marks in
class, I don’t even know why you are complaining. The least mark you will probably get on this test
is a ‘B grade. The guy with a ‘C or ‘D isn’t even complaining.

14. You have to learn to be grateful
–and this was Mr. straight A’s reply, “We cannot be compared like that, as if we all have the same standards.
Someone gets sixty percent and is overjoyed because he had aimed to just pass an exam yet someone else
is devastated by a seventy-five because his aim was a ninety”
This was my takeaway from the last statement:
Own your dreams and have your scale set to measure your achievements. Do not compare yourself with
anyone, but relentlessly go for your goals.

15. Gratitude is good every step of the way because it keeps you positive and somehow opens up more
opportunities for good things to keep happening to you.
You also get to enjoy the journey despite challenges on the way if you have an attitude of gratitude.
If, however gratitude becomes all you have, then you risk being caught up in limitation and settling
for a half-full life.
By all means, celebrate your mini victories leading you to your macro-goal, but don’t be caught up
in them so much you end up comfortable before you have arrived at your destination.

Let the words you speak be progress-oriented.
At every stage, it is essential to look back and see how far you’ve come just to appreciate your

It doesn’t matter if it takes years or decades and many detours on the way. As long as you arrive at
the height of your life, using the right words, you will taste the sweet victory.
