4. I have heard some stories about how Valentine came about.
But. I was not satisfied with what I got.
Why?
This s because since I knew what a world we are, I have
noticed that Valentine goes beyond mere expression of love.
There has been many other ugly sides and heartbreaks during
and after Val’s day.
If the day was a day that was said it was in history, then why
would such of love should result in some many wild, obscene
and erotic acts?
More questions…
5. History told us…At least that was what we were told
or read. That Val’s day was a commemoration of the
heroic acts of a man or should I say a saint called
Valentine.
Though the story comes with different twist, but the
bottom line was that Valentine died for love. The
aftermath of martyrdom for love attracted the
Christian community, especially the leaders and they
christened February 14th Valentine ‘s day.
But is that all there is to the origin of Valentine’s
DAY?
Wait… I discovered there is more…
6. Here is the true story behind Valentine that has be hidden form the
whole world. Or the ecclesiastical decided to hid from us.
Valentine the martyred saint never existed. It was a cooked up story to
turn the pagan celebration of love to a Christian celebration.
The real story and the truth was that the day for the celebration of love
started right even before the birth of Jesus Christ.
It started way back in Roman paganism. It was then called
LUPERCALIA.
Lupercalia was a day to honor a deified hero-god by the name
Lupercus.
Lupercus was called wolf-hunter. Why?
In Roman history, there was a time when the people were attacked and
killed by wolves. The people need help and there was no one to help
them from this monstrous beast. Then Lupercus came to their rescue
by killing the wolves and then earned the name Lupercus.
7. Lupercalia was a day men gathered together for merry making and fun
and more important is that they guys gather together the manes of
women around in a box and the guys randomly picked any name form
the box. Whichever name they picked is their Val.
Thus, they take that lady and enjoy the day with her. Most times it ends
in sex!
This pagan celebration continue until the time of Constantine. When he
became an emperor, he later converted to Christainity. He decided to
change everyone under his domain to Christian. But some of the pagan
Romans would not want to.
Some of his officials advised that he should not enforce this on the people.
Thus he allowed LUPERCALIA to become part of the Christians
celebrations.
It was until the time of Pope Gelasius that the day became recognized as
Valentine’s day after the name of the saint that died for love.
8. During the Roman times, the name VALENTINE was a common
name among the people.
The name Valentine means a strong or mighty one. It fittingly
described who Lupercus the hunter god was.
History has it that Lupercus was originally called Nembrod or
Nimrod. He travelled far from the Asia minor to the rhines and to
Rome in order to help them kill the destroying wolves. It was the
Romans that changed his name to Lupercus.
For bible readers, You will remember that there was a Nimrod that
was commonly nicknamed a “mighty one”. And the bible says he
was a mighty hunter. Thus, we can deduce that the Lupercus of the
Romans is the Nimrod in the bible. He was the first rebel in the world
against God. He also started the worship of gods together with the
queen –mother, Semiramis.
9. The use of the symbol heart for love came to be as a result of the worship
of Lupercus.
He became a much revered being among the Romans that they decided to
use the heart symbol to such how much they have given their selves to
him.
Whenever the worship him, the make the heart symbol to give honor to
Lupercus or Nimrod.
Since then, heart has become synonymous with love.
Here you have the true story behind Valentine’s day. It is pagan in origin
and it is meant to worship a god.
That is why VAL’S DAY has its attendant lust, lewdness and sex to show.
Are you still for Valentine? Thins about it…
