UNDERSTANDING HOW CYBERBULLYING WORKS
2. Cyberbullying is the same basic principle as
standard bullying, with the idea being that the
aggressor will relentlessly humiliate and belittle the
victim online instead of in person. Again, this isn’t as
minor as a disagreement or an ‘unfriending’, but more
along the lines of aggressive behavior and humiliation
that persists.
3. Cyberbullying is harmful to children and it happens
more often than we know. „Educators and parents
must teach children “Cybersafety” from an early age
so that they can safely interact with others online.
Communications with your child/student is important
in deterring and detecting cyberbullying. Make sure
let them know you are there to listen.

PSYCHOLOGICAL CHALLENGES
We have discussed the potential harm inflicted by bullying in
general. It seems clear that many children who endures
bullying are going to suffer for it later in life. The researchers
for this study also looked at the potential long-term
consequences of bullying. Specifically, they attempted to
measure the following three factors for students who had
been bullied:
Behavioral difficulties
Emotional difficulties
Self-esteem problems
5. Cyberbullying also occurs when a bully targets a
victim using electronic communication. The bully
may be a friend of your child, but as many
don’t require identity verification, bullies are often
able to harass their victims anonymously. If your
children use devices, websites or social media
networks, there is a strong possibility they could be,
or have already been exposed to cyberbullying.

Establish Online Etiquette
Another way to protect a person from cyberbullying
is to establish a set of guidelines and rules for how
they use technology, also known as online
etiquette. These guidelines may include how much
time your child spends online, which websites they
use, or what language they use when chatting.
7. S O L U T I O N S
Never use another person’s cell phone or
computer without permission.
Don’t communicate with anonymous or
unrecognizable screen names.
Never interact with people online unless they’re
friends in real life.
Always keep social profiles private.
8. S O L U T I O N S
Don’t give out personal information to anyone.
Don’t share passwords, use secure passwords,
and don’t reuse passwords.
Be mindful about what you post about yourself
and others online.
9. Cyberbullying is a growing issue that can happen to
any child. Many children faced with this issue want to
get help, but they might not know how to get it. The
best way to respond to cyberbullying is by being
proactive with communication. You can help them by
educating yourself about the signs of cyberbullying,
and by learning how to establish an open line of
communication with your child.
