7. Elephant Nature Park is a unique project set in Chiang Mai
province, Northern Thailand. Established in the 1990’s. The
park is located some 60km from the city, and has provided a
sanctuary for dozens of distressed elephants from all over
Thailand.

Elephant found in Thailand is the Indian Elephants(Elephas maximus indicus), a
subspecies of the Asian Elephant In the early-1900s there were an estimated 100,000
domesticated or captive elephants in Thailand.In mid-2007 there were an estimated
3,456 domesticated elephants left in Thailand and roughly a thousand wild elephants.
By 2017 the number of captive elephants had risen to an estimated 3,783. The elephant
became an endangered species in Thailand in 1986.

11. Singhbhum Elephant Reserve: First Elephant
Sanctuary in India
Perhaps the first Elephant Reserve in India, this green expanse
was founded in 2001 in Jharkhand. It is located in the East and
West Singhbhum and Saraikela-Kharsawan Districts. The reserve
covers a vast area, even incorporating the entire Dalma Wildlife
Sanctuary. Numerous elephants can be seen here as you travel
through the wooded forest, going about their daily life. Not only
that, you're likely to catch a glimpse of many other animals
including sloth bears, barking deer or even reptiles. The area is
linked to the nearby Palamau Tiger Reserve, and although it has
happened very rarely, if you're fortunate you might even sight of a
tiger here.
