1. THEORIST: DR. MARIA MONTESSORI
There are theorists in Early Childhood Education that offers a broad vision of education
as an aid to life. These are designed to help children with their task of inner construction as they
grow from childhood to maturity.
Dr. Maria Montessori is one of the theorists of Early Childhood Education. Her theory to
early childhood education is a wonderful way to introduce problem solving both for a young
child's brain and help work on their motor skills as well. Children often learn through play and
through manipulation of toys, the theory of Montessori to early childhood education is a prime
example of teaching boys and girls how to do so. Imaginative play and real life role play helps
the child grasp concepts that might otherwise be foreign to them.
In my classroom setting there are activities and instructional materials from the theory of
Montessori that use in motivating my pupils and giving them a chance to explore. Based on my
observation in the theory Montessori they have a lot of learning materials that being use by the
pupils for them to accomplish their important goal the development of every individual. Honestly
speaking in our school we have lack of facilities and manipulative materials but then as a teacher
I was able to initiate something to provide my pupils of those materials they can use in their
learning like buying manipulative toys or simply making it like blocks made of woods that is
relevant for them to learn. Like Montessori I was also practicing constructivist approach in
which I allow my pupils to discover things independently from what they are doing. For example
in playing blocks by observing them I was able to conceptualize that children’s can really learn if
they have freedom to discover things. In manipulative toys like blocks they are going to form

teacher but then I was able to apply these theories in my classroom too.
Indeed many practices that I can associate with this theory. And even if I didn’t practice
all of the practices of this theory yet some of its practices are something to do with the practices I
have in my classroom in which I can relate to it. In fact these theory is particular with the
development of a child like where I am particular with too, from giving the child wonderful
experiences, observing their development and stimulating them to promote their total
development.
