The Educational Wealth Fund recognizes that
there are currently deep inequalities in terms
of children’s access to nature, and is keen to
address this through the funding of a multitude
of capital projects – some of which are explored
further below.
The Current Situation
A study by the RSPB, conducted over three
years, found that just 20% of children are ‘pos-
itively connected to nature,’ while data is also
consistently revealing that British wildlife is in
serious decline.
The EWF believes that giving children access to
rewarding experiences in the natural world will
help them to develop a sense of responsibility

Possible Future Projects
The sort of projects that the EWF could fund in-
clude the creation of outdoor classrooms, living
biophilic walls, interactive carbon footprint dis-
plays, and the buying of land to turn it into a
learning forest.
