Sir C.V. Raman made several important achievements and discoveries in his career:
1) In 1911, he was appointed as Special Account General for posts and telegraphs in Calcutta and later became a professor at Calcutta University.
2) He later became the director of the Indian Institute of Science in Bengaluru, where he established the Raman Research Institute in 1948.
3) His most important discovery was the Raman effect in 1928, for which he received the Nobel Prize in 1930, while observing light scattering in liquids during a voyage to Europe.
4) He received many honors including being knighted by King George V in 1929 and receiving India's highest civilian award, the Bharat

teacher: In the last class we have came across the early life of Raman,
in this class we will know the achievements of Raman.
(SKILL OF EXPLANATION)
In 1907 he got first place in completive examination and appointed as
Deputy Accountant General ,but he was not happy with his job . One
day while returning from his office he saw a banner of THE INDIAN
ASSOCIATION OF SCIENTISTS outside a building. When he saw this he
got off from the moving train and went to meet the scientists. When he
came to know that an institution had brought a piece of modern science
equipments , he hurriedly went to have a look at it.
That much interest he had in science.
2. In 1911 Raman was appointed as Special
Account General fro posts and telegraphs
in Calcutta. Later he got the professorship
in Calcutta university.

Europe, he saw the

scientific organisations. In 1957 the Soviet
Union honoured him by awarding the
international Lenin Prize.

The great personality who

November 21, 1970 at the age
of 82
