2. What’s causing traffic in Bangalore?
• Bangalore grew radically outward in all
directions. No planning.
• Bangalore has the poorest "road length" per
square km of area.
• Too many vehicle owners.
• Late planning of metro services.
• Main roads are broken, extremely
unmaintained, & have potholes.
• Bus stops are right next to traffic signals,
flyovers & road merges.
• The people!
3. Is it too late to act on it?
It is said that there’s no problem without a
solution. It’s makes you question that statement
when you’re stuck for 30 minutes on Mysore
Road on weekends!
The BCP and concerned civilians are making an
effort to combat traffic problem in the city.
Only through co-ordination and awareness, one
can hope to overcome the rampant problem.
4. Immediate solutions:
1. ENGINEERING-
Built better roads.
Destroy illegal properties on narrow roads.
Fix inconsistent lanes.
Scientific speed breakers and signals.
2. EDUCATION-
Change how driver’s licenses are granted.
Create awareness about carpooling, encourage
the use of mass transportation.
3. ENFORCEMENT-
Visible policing to set example & induce proper
driving behavior.
Stringent fines, constant monitoring.
5. FUTURISTIC & SUSTAINABLE SOLUTIONS
• ROADS AND VEHICLES WITH IoT
When a driver/rider is speeding or violating traffic rules, the sensors
in the vehicle send alerts to authorities and nearby traffic cops.
• ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
AI that uses deep learning to evaluate video recordings of traffic points.
Cars, buses, trucks, motorcycles, traffic lights and people - these objects
can be tracked how they move and behave. Information can be gathered
that can be analyzed more precisely to prevent traffic problems.
• PARKING SOLUTIONS
Search, book and manage parking using dedicated apps. Multi floor
parking buildings to save space.
