The Purley Business Association is looking to create a Business Improvement District (BID) in Purley. A BID is a partnership between local businesses and the local council to invest in improvements to the public sphere of a specified area. The PBA and Croydon Council would propose the Purley BID, which would define the area, create a ballot for businesses, and require majority approval to be approved. If approved, all businesses in the area would pay an additional levy of 1-3% of their business rates for 5 years to fund initiatives like cleaning, safety patrols, marketing events, and engaging a town center manager.
