Students with 85% accuracy will be able to:
a. state different ways of introducing once self to a new found friend;

give us pleasing appearance and we will gain more

“What’s your name?” and follows with “My name
is…” and so with further discussion of a little bit of
the information we have with us.

5. Procedure: Awareness
The teacher will bring out two pictures of two little girls
smiling with each other while shaking each other’s hands. The teacher
will then ask the students, “Describe the picture particularly the two
girls.”, “What are the two girls doing?”, “Why do you think they are
doing that?” so then the teacher will ask the students the latter until
they will be able to give an answer which is “handshaking” or “they are
making friends” or just “the two girls are friends” or the closest cues.
Then the teacher will say, “Let’s listen to what their story is and what
are they really doing to find out if we are correct.” The teacher will
now start to read the story. Using the picture the teacher will
introduce the characters: Ana and Marie which is also the title of the
story. Copies of the story will be distributed to the students to guide
them as the teacher reads the story.
6. Ana and Marie
One morning Ana woke up and stood up from her mat along the
side walk of the long street where a glamorous car passed. Ana saw a
cute little girl of her age peeping at the passing car’s window who is
also looking at her. She don’t know her so she just ignored and played
with her messy looking teddy bear.
Ana is an orphan, she has no family to take care of her, at a
very young age she already felt the crumpling feeling of hunger but
she still manage to live because of the nearby bakery who gives her
two bread a day or sometimes give her a meal. She don’t have friends
because she is very messy and dirty and one thing is she don’t like
talking with anybody else.
7. On the next morning the glamorous car stopped near Ana’s
place and came down the little girl she saw peeping on the car’s
window. The girl approached Ana but she hurriedly covered her face
with her teddy bear. The girl just smiled and said, “Hey, don’t be
shy… I just want to be your friend. I saw you yesterday so I asked
my mom to take me here today. My name is Marie, what’s your
name?” but Ana remained silent so Marie decided to just go home
but left a red box. When Marie already left, Ana opened the box
and was surprised to sea delicious sausages so without any
hesitation she ate all the 5 big sausages in one meal!
Marie’s car passed again but did not stopped so Ana decided
to follow where was the car going and picked a beautiful flower along
the road. She reached Marie’s place and saw Marie playing, “Marie!
Marie!” she shouted, Marie was surprised seeing Ana outside their
gate and she was very excited, “Hi Marie, sorry for my attitude
yesterday. I came here to say thank you for the sausages and for
this flower… its for you.” Ana said, “Oh very sweet! You are very
welcome.” Marie replied, “Hmmm.. my name is Ana… and I want to be
your friend too”. Marie then said with a handshake, “FRIENDS!”.
8. Procedure: Activity
State different ways of introducing once self to a new found friend.
With use of the story the teacher will ask the students, “ How did
Marie ask Ana to be her friend?” (“Hey, don’t be shy… I just want to be
your friend. I saw you yesterday so I asked my mom to take me here
today. My name is Marie, what’s your name?”), “Was Ana’s first reply,
good or bad? Why?” (“No, because the did not respond to Marie.”), “How
did Ana ask Marie to be her friend?”(“ Ana went to Marie’s house and
said “Hi Marie, sorry for my attitude yesterday. I came here to say
thank you for the sausages and for this flower… its for you.” Ana said,
“Oh very sweet! You are very welcome.” Marie replied, “Hmmm.. my name
is Ana… and I want to be your friend too”.), , ”If someone will ask you to
be his friend, how will you answer him?” (“Sure, what is your name? My
name is Ana, what’s yours?”.) , ”If you found someone whom you want to
be your friend, how will you say it to him or her?” , (“Hi! May I play with
you? My name is Marie… what’s your name?”)
9. After the above stated questions from the story, the teacher will then
open the discussion with the question, “What did you learn from the
story about making friends?”. The students are expected to answer: “To
make friends we should say our name first or ask his name.”, “If someone
will approach us we should be polite.”. The answers may differ but the
teacher will consider all the closest statements of the class. The teacher
will then say “The best way of starting friendship is with a simple but
true smile. Followed with “Hi!” or “Hello!” then some few questions, and we
should not forget to know the person’s name and of course to introduce
our self. Questions may come in How old are you?, Where do you live?,
What is your nickname?, May I play with you?. But students, be reminded
that talking to strangers is harmful so in making friends be sure your
parents or guardian is with you or somewhere around you wherein he or
she will see you.” After the discussion the teacher will then lead the class
to an activity.
10. Demonstrate how to approach and introduce oneself to a friend.
The teacher will divide the class into four groups and then post the
instruction on the board:
-Choose two representatives.
-Dramatize how will you introduce your self to a new found friend.
-Work as a group.
-Example:
Ana: Hi, my name is Ana. What’s your name?
Marie: Hello, my name is Marie.
In this activity the students will be given 10 minutes to plan and a maximum
of 5 minutes to dramatize in front of the class. The example may be
added and revised according to the group’s creativity. The other members
of the group aside from the two representatives should be part of the
presentation not as the main characters but as extras e.g, seller, people
passing by, wall, door, and etc. The presentation of the groups will be rated
according to the criteria:
Creativity 30
Relevance 15
Teamwork 5

Total 50
11. Share to the class about his friend and how they became friends.
The teacher will ask the students, “Who among you here
have a friend?, please raise your right hand.” The majority of the
students are expected to raise their hand so the teacher will ask
“Who can share to the class his or her story with his or her friend?,
How did your friendship started?”. The teacher will only entertain
two to three sharing.
12. Procedure: Analysis
• What are the ways of making friends?
• Why is there a need to make friends?
• How does making friends help you?
• What will happen if you don’t know how to make friends?
• What is the importance of making friends?
• How does making friends affect you as a student?
Procedure: Abstraction
What are the ways of making friends?
13. III Assessment:
The second activity wherein the students showcased a
presentation about introducing oneself to a new found
friend will serve as an Authentic Assessment.
