3. Traditional leadership is about
control, rules, regulations, and
boundaries while the modern
business approach is about freedom
of thought, room for creativity, the
value of the outcome, and a warm
welcome for new ideas.
8. LEADERSHIP STYLE
• Mother Teresa leadership style is a Relationship oriented, Situational leader.
Situational leadership is a leadership style, when the leader or manager of an
organization must adjust his style to fit the development level of the followers
he/she is trying to influence. With situational leadership, it is up to the leader to
change his style, not the follower to adapt to the leader's style. In situational
leadership, the style may change continually to meet the needs of others in the
organization based on the situation.
9. How she is a SITUATIONAL leader?
"Don't wait for leaders, do it alone, person to person."
• Mother Teresa was a situational leader. She helped people according
to their situation, For example if they were starving she would provide
food for them, if they had no place to stay she would provide a home
for them to say at, if they were ill she took her time to practice
medicine in order to help heal them. If a situation came, she would find
a solution to help them in some way.
She and her fellow sisters did what was urgently needed. They were at
home for the homeless, food for the hungry, medicines in the ailing
company and the lonely.
10. APJ
ABDUL
KALAM
AS
A
LEADER
2)Never stop fighting until you
arrive at your destined place -
that is, the unique you. Have an
aim in life, continuously acquire
knowledge, work hard, and
have perseverance to realise
the great life. A. P. J. Abdul
Kalam
1)He referred as "charismatic
leader"
11. The well informed decision maker
(More focused & effective contributor & faster accomplishments of goals. )
If we look into the story of Bheema & Jarasandh in Mahabharata . There Bheema kills Jarasandh
several times , but miraculously Jarasandh's body recovers each & every time. Then helpless Bheema
looks at Shri Krishna . Now , Shri Krishna was well informed about Jarasandh's birth history .So , he
simply showed Bheema the following direction-
Shri Krishna took a twig , split it into two halves, and then threw it far apart in opposite directions.
On seeing this, Bheema did exactly the same with Jarasandh, splitting his body into two halves and
throwing it far apart. And Jarasandh finally died in this way .
Here Shri Krishna could direct Bheema on the right solution to overcome the crisis, Only because he
was well informed with the correct facts & information. Similarly leaders need to educate
themselves quickly , as things are changing very fast in this volatile & uncertain world
12. Flexibility / willingness to change & adapt
*
Shri Krishna is said to have several names . One such name that he has been given is
'Ranchod' which is derived from two different words namely 'Ran' which means war and
'chod' which means to leave. Hence the meaning of Ranchod is the one who ran away
from the battlefield.
Now , why did he evade the war ? Simple. It was a clear strategy from Krishna . He
wanted to avoid the destruction, the loss of people's lives , wealth & economy that arises
as a consequence of the war. Shri Krishna was flexible to shift his capital from Mathura
to Dwarka, simply to avoid the war with Jarasandh. And thus showed us the importance
of having flexibility in everything that we do . Demonstrated his opulence of
renunciation.
Similarly in all crisis situation the leaders must show the qualities of flexibility ,
willingness to change & adapt
13. Motivational skills : ( Leader as a motivator) :
In the story of Mahabharata, At the Battlefield of Kurukshetra, Arjuna lost his
motivation to fight & was paralyzed to inaction. Shri Krishna motivated him to act
,irrespective of the results of his actions. As Bhagavad Gita says, "Not to worry or
desire for the result but perform one's karma". ......and thus steered Arjuna to
action.
Similarly the great leaders must be able to clear all self doubts from the mind of his
followers , uphold Dharma ( what is right) in any situation & in this way can
motivate the follower to perform Nishkama Karma (selfless actions)
15. Leadership Learnings from chak de India -
1)Be A Team Player
The hockey team is shown as a very diverse team, it has women from all over India coming
together to play hockey for the country. The women slowly realise that they need to stop
fighting each other and at the end of the day they need to come together and be united as a
team to achieve their goals.
2) Putting Your Ego aside
It is shown that a few players dont get a long very well on both professional and personal levels.
We can see that their ego’s are creating problems for them and the rest of their team. They
eventually put their egos aside and come together as a team.
16. 3. Embracing The Past
Everyone has a past and for some the past may be very painful, but we are all aware that we
cannot run from the past. We have to learn from the pain, imperfections knowing that each
experience you lived through defines you as you. We can see Shah Rukh Khan turning the tables
from a agonizing life to a magnificent life.
4. Respect Your Mentor!
A player on the team is unwilling to accept orders from her new coach, later in the movie she
understands the importance of a mentor and slowly starts accepting his authority. The movie
also portrays that we should learn from our mentors and continue growing.
