2. The probability of stroke, physical trauma
and disease-related disabilities increases
with age, as the body becomes more
fragile. Thus, as the population ages in
developed countries, demand for
rehabilitation therapy increases to
support the people in remaining as
functioning members of society. This has
led to increased interest towards
developing devices that could be used for
supporting, protecting and recovering
the functions of the aging human body.
PROBLEM STATEMENT
3. EXISTING IDEA
The existing technology only has mechanical components or doest
give high degree of freedom.
The materials used in existing assistive knee devices need
improvement to better to the movement changes in the knees.
Some of the existing products are HAL-5, Rewalk, Rex, Walk ON
suit, etc.
4. PROPOSED SOLUTION
Our aim is to develop more effective, a smart knee actuator for 2-
DoF(degrees of freedom) assist using soft robotics. It uses pneumatic
actuator and pressure sensing element which intelligently adjust its
dynamics accoding to the pressure on the knees exerted. So far the
combinations of these motions has not been implemented. However,
our proposed solution makes it more suitable for human wearing and
also to reduce its bulkiness and complexity.
