4. (A) Greetings:
Beginning of the dialogue has to be with greetings. Greet the other person according to the time of the day. The language ofthe dialogue will differ
depending on whether the situation is formal or informal; with a known or unknown person. In informal situations, use terms like GoodMorning,
GoodAfternoon,GoodEvening.In informal situations, words like Hi, Hello etc. are used.
(B) Developmentof Dialogue:
The dialogue should read like spontaneous real conversation. Include questions with proper question marks, exclamations likeexcuseme,sorry,
thankyou,please,MayI Know...etc.to show polite enquiries and responses.
(C) Closing Sentence:
Dialogue should end with proper sentences depending on whether the situation is formal or informal. In formal situations usethe expressions like:
Gooddaytoyou.
Havea niceday.
Thankyouverymuchforyourhelp.
It wasa pleasuretalkingtoyou.
In informal situations, use expressions as:
Takecare;Seeyousoon,Bye,etc..
5. Exampleno.1: A dialogue between a teacher and a student about home work.
Teacher: Good Morning, dear students.
Student:Good Morning, Ma’am.
Teacher:Did you do your homework?
Student: Yes. But I left my note-book at home.
Teacher: How is it possible? If you do not work regularly, you will fail in the exam. Keep in mind that regularity
conquers the mountains.
Student:Next time, I shall be careful.
