MAIN PROJECTS
1. Assessment of Various Lung Infiltrates by Magnetic Resonance Imaging Using
Multiple Inhaled Gases Enhancement.
2. MRI Study of Lung Injury in aging rats and IPF Patients.
OTHER COLLABORATIVE WORK
1. Clinical Study Assessing SSR126517E (3.0 mg s.c. once weekly) in Pulmonary
Embolism Therapy Approach-Study Site Sub Investigator. An industry
sponsored, multicenter, randomized, double-blind placebo-control drug trial.
2. Outcome in Pulmonary Embolism Based on Clot Burden and Length of
Treatment. Faculty Advisor. A retrospective study by a pulmonary and
critical care fellow at Penn. State.
3. 3. Outcome and Characteristics of Patients with Elevated Pulmonary Vascular
Resistance as well as Elevated Pulmonary Capillary Pressure, without
known left ventricular systolic dysfunction or valvular heart disease
compared to WHO-I Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension. Faculty Advisor. A
retrospective study by a pulmonary and critical care fellow at Penn. State.
4. Restless Leg Syndrome: Neural Mechanisms Uncovered Using Eyeblink
Classical Conditioning. Clinical Collaborator. A clinical study attempting to
elucidate neural mechanisms responsible of RLS using a standard cerebellar
learning paradigm, called eyeblink classical conditioning and MR
spectroscopy to analyze iron contents and various neurotransmitters in
various parts of brain. The study involves comparison of various parameters
before and one week after temporary interruption of RLS therapy in RLS
patient versus controls. Study also assesses quality of life in theses patients.
5. Validation of Equation for Predicting Metabolic Rate in Critical Care
Patients. Sub-investigator. A prospective study using indirect-calorimetry to
validate the equation (using body weight, height, body temperature) to
predict the metabolic rate in critically ill patients.
