D. Discussing new concepts
and practicing new skills #1
In the previous lesson we already learned the following:
Multiplication is one of the four elementary mathematical
operations.
The multiplication of whole numbers maybe though as a repeated
addition.
Multiplier tells the number of times a number is to be added or
the number of groups.
Multiplicand is the number to be added or the number of elements
in a set.
Product is the result of multiplication.
E.Discussing new concepts and
practicing new skills #2
Multiplication sentence:
Multiplicand 3 x 6 = 18 Product
Multiplier
F.Developing mastery
(Leads to formative
Activity 1: Write the multiplication sentence to describe each
array.
3. assessment)
Activity 2: Complete the multiplication equation that describe each
array.
Activity 3: Color in square to solve the multiplication question
4. G. Finding
practical/applications of
concepts and skills in daily
living
Visualize and use repeated addition to find the product.
1. 6 x 6 = Visualize here:______________________________
Addition Equation:___________________________
2. 4 x 8 = Visualize here:_______________________________
Addition Equation:___________________________
When buying an apple at the market that cost 20 each. You can use
multiplication. If you want 5 apples and per peace is 20 so 20 x
5=100
H. Making generalizations and
abstractions about the lesson
How to multiply numbers?
Step 1. Interpret the multiplication phrase into groupings.
Step 2. Visualize the groupings.
Step 3. Interpret the visualization into a repeated addition.
Step 4. State the multiplication fact.
I. Evaluating Learning Visualize using sticks and complete the basic multiplication fact.
1. 8 x 5 =
2. 4 x 9 =
3. 2 x 7 =
