1. INNOVATION & RESILIENCE VISION TO LIFE
Innovation &
Resilience:
Vision to Life
MGBU 3227
Fall 2016
THERE’S A WAY TO DO IT BETTER – FIND IT. – THOMAS EDISON CONTACT INFORMATION
Course Description:
Developed as the second of three
core Entrepreneurship courses, this
course focuses predominantly on the
process of innovation, including
opportunity recognition, sourcing
innovation, new product
development, value creation, and
the properties of decision making
under uncertainty. Also imperative
is the resilience required to weather
inevitable ambiguity, risk, mistakes,
and even failures along the
entrepreneurial journey. Pre-
requisite: MGBU 3226 Exploring
Entrepreneurship.
Objectives:
To teach future entrepreneurs about
creating value through innovation and
challenging the status quo. To develop
an understanding of and appreciation for
the personal and emotional implications
of entrepreneurship – on an individual
and team level – and how to turn
negatives into positives. Ultimately, this
course has been designed to
dramatically change the way students
think and feel about entrepreneurial
opportunities and how to cultivate those
ideas through critical thinking and
problem solving exercises. The course
delivery in itself is aimed at offering an
innovative perspective with a blended,
and technology-dependent delivery
method.
Content:
This course will draw upon readings
from the textbook, cases, and
supplemental articles/reading materials.
Class sessions will be largely comprised
of lectures, group discussions and
analyses, in-class team projects and
brainstorming sessions, virtual
discussions, and occasional guest
speakers.

Fordham Policy:
Written assignments: “It is
extremely important that students
develop adequate skills in written and
oral English. In all fields of business
there is a need to communicate clearly
and concisely in reports, at meetings,
and in day-to-day relations with
others. Students should be sure to
develop these habits as undergraduates.
Each teacher, no matter what the
subject, will include an assessment of
the student’s ability to communicate as
part of the grade. The teacher can adjust
grades for the quality of the student’s
writing and has the right to require
reports to be rewritten on the basis of
poor writing alone.”
***Class Innovation
During several classes flexible new materials and
assignments will be created based on the dynamics of
the actual class. This will provide a vibrant and
innovative space for learning.

From the Fordham University Website
“Students are expected to abide by the
University Code of Conduct and
maintain the highest standards with
regard to honesty, effort and
performance. Discipline will be enforced
rigorously. A student who falsifies or
copies an assignment, term paper or
examination will be subject to failure in
the course involved. Dishonest behavior
also includes, but is not limited to, using
unauthorized material in an

another student to copy an assignment,
term paper or examination. Such
behavior is subject to the same penalty
as copying. Depending on the
circumstances, evidence of dishonest
scholarship may well lead to expulsion
from the University. Student appeal
