Hills on the east side of Sitakunda and the vast ocean in the west. This is the eastern

Chittagong University
Chittagong University is a public research university with multidisciplinary faculties.
Which situated across a 2110-acre hilly landmass in Fatehpur Union of Hathazari
Upazila, Chittagong. It is 22 kilometer north of Chittagong city. The academic activities
of this University formally began it’s on 18 November in 1966. This is the third-largest
public university in the country. This University has the largest campus among
Bangladeshi Universities. It has about 24000 students and more than 1000 faculty
members.
Chittagong University was founded on 3 December 1965 by Fazlul Qadir Chowdhury in
Chittagong City. He was one of the main facilitators for the demand of the University. It
has 9 faculties, 49 departments, 8 institutes, a library, a museum, and 12 residential
halls for students. Chittagong University Museum is a very popular University Museum
in Bangladesh. It was established on 14 June 1973. The Museum started with a
collection of artifacts from the History Department. It collected fossils from the
Nasirabad hills. The museum builds up a collection of Historic artifacts and paintings.

6. The teachers, students, officials, and staff of Chittagong University had played a
significant role during the War of Liberation in 1971. A council of the university was
constituted to intensify the struggle for liberation in a meeting held on 8 March 1971.
One teacher, eleven students and three staff members of the University embraced
martyrdom in the War of Liberation.

Chittagong Zoo
There are several zoos in Bangladesh, one of them is Chittagong Zoo. With an area of 6
acres of land, it is located about 3 kilometers north-west of the city. Chittagong Zoo is
located at Foy’s Lake Approach Rd, Chittagong. This is the only zoo listed in
Chittagong. On February 8, 1989, the zoo was opened for the visitors. It is situated on
the hilly land of Foy’s lake.

Universities especially veterinary students are used to come here to know about the

Sandwip Island

8. Bangladesh is a land of river. It has many islands also, one of them is Sandwip Island. It
is a sub-district located in Chittagong District in Bangladesh. The length of Sandwip
Island is 50 km and the width is 5 to 15 km. Under British rule, its location proved to be
a bit of an administrative problem. Today it is a part of Bangladesh. It is supposed that
Sandwip was connected with Chittagong’s original land and disconnected by natural
disasters.

Khoyiachhara Waterfall

10. There are many natural waterfalls in Bangladesh. Among them, Khoiyachhara is one of
the beautiful waterfalls in Bangladesh. It is a hilly waterfall which is situated on the hills
of Mirsarai Upazila in Chittagong. Since the location of the fountain is in Khoiyachhara
Union of Mirsarai Upazila, the waterfall has been named “Khoiyachhara Waterfall“. The
location of the waterfall is 4.2 kilometers east of it. It is also located 200km South of
Dhaka and only 63 km north of Chittagong City.
Khoiyachhara Waterfall and its corridor are one of the largest in this hilly belt. The
Khoiyachhara Waterfall has a total of seven major waterfalls and many isolated steps.
Due to the location of the fountain is in the mountains, it is not possible to reach the top
of the fountain directly by using any vehicle. But there is no arrangement for the rest of
the road to reach the mainstream of the fountain foothills of the hill, it is possible to
reach there on foot only.
The native people think that the Khoiyachhara Waterfall is flowing almost 50 years ago.
It took time to discover its location for massless mountain areas and bushes. The
Government in 2010 announced a hill-area of 2933 hectares extending from
Baroiyadhaka block to Kunderhat block as a national park. The Khoiyachhara waterfalls
are located inside the park. This waterfall has the highest number of steps in the
country, it is called “Queen of Falls”. That’s why this is one of the tourist attractions in
Chittagong.

11. Sohosrodhara Waterfall
Another beautiful fountain is Sohosrodhara Waterfall in Chittagong. Sohosrodhara
Waterfall is located in Sitakunda Upazila of Chittagong District in Bangladesh. It is the
evergreen forest in Sitakunda. It is only 35 Kilometers away from Chittagong city.
The location of Sohosrodhara Waterfall is in Sitakunda Eco Park. Sitakunda Eco Park
has been set up in the evergreen forest of Chandranath Reserve Forest in Sitakunda
Upazila in Chittagong. One of the unique landscapes of this Sitakunda Eco Park is
called Sohosrodhara Waterfall. Although there is very little water in this spring
throughout the year, during the monsoon season, the full form of Sohosrodhara
Waterfall is seen.
From the top of the hill, you have to get down using the stairs to reach the bottom of the
Sohosrodhara falls. This waterfall has almost no water in the dry season. In the rainy
season, hundreds of visitors from different parts of the country flock to Sitakunda Eco
Park every day to enjoy the beauty of this waterfall.
Suptadhara Waterfall

12. There is another waterfall called Suptadhara Waterfall which is very close to
Sohosrodhara Waterfall. Sitakunda Eco Park has two falls, one is Sohosrodhara
Waterfall and another is Suptadhara Waterfall. From the flow of the Sohosrodhara
Waterfalls, Suptadhara Waterfall is created.
This fall keeps dormant except the Rainy season. If you are there in the rainy season,
only then, you can enjoy the beauty of the falls with full of water. In the dry season, from
the far side of the falls, it will appear that the fall doesn’t have any water. But when you
move toward the falls, you can see a glimpse of water which is dripping from the top of
it. It is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Chittagong.
The beauty of the proximity of the falls is outclassed. The small and large blocks of
stones are spread all over. It looks like a kind of white beauty. After enjoying the falls,
