PRAISE EQUIP GO
We gather together
regularly to praise God
and receive from Him
His good gifts of Word
and Sacrament.
We continue to learn
from Him and the Bible
more about who He is,
who we are and what
our unique gifts and
calling is.
We are discovering and
learning how God is
calling us to use those
gifts as we go into the
world to serve others.

God by serving the community we
are in and beyond. We also meet in
homes and area restaurants in
small groups to learn more about
God and how to serve others in
the community.

2022 HIGHLIGHTS
04
The Grove's partnership with Marty B's restaurant in
Bartonville continued to be a source of blessing.
Beyond allowing the Grove to meet weekly, free of
cost, on the rooftop patio, we were able to worship
downstairs on Easter morning to accommodate a
larger crowd and upstairs on Christmas morning
even though the restaurant remained closed.

described their first experiences with the Grove as
Life Groups are the primary context in which we make disciples,
build individuals into maturing leaders, and experience Gospel-
centered community. Our Life Groups, made up of typically 8-12
adults, gather in homes and share life together, learning about
and living out 7 rhythms or spiritual practices of a Christ follower
as demonstrated in Acts 2:42-47: Daily Devotions, Prayer,
Repentance, Sacrificial Generosity, Serving the Community,
Sharing Our Story, and Worship.

Life Groups officially kicked off in September of 2022.
Each group began with a series called “Rooted” which equips the church to live
out our mission and practice the 7 rhythms of discipleship.
Every group is creatively coming up with ways to uniquely serve others.
Our Life Groups meet the needs of all from single young adults, to married
couples with kids, to those in their golden years.
HIGHLIGHTS
One Life Group adopted
a foster home at Christ’s
Haven, bought, brought,
and set up Christmas
decorations for the family’s
first Christmas together!
"FOR ME, IT'S BEEN REALLY COOL AND
INSPIRING FOR OUR GROUP TO GET TO
KNOW ONE ANOTHER. I ENJOY FEELING
CONNECTED WITH EVERYONE. AND IT'S
BEEN AWESOME TO SEE EACH PERSON
SHARE THEIR STORIES. IT'S CERTAINLY
A HIGHLIGHT THAT EVERYONE HAS
DONE THEIR BEST TO PARTICIPATE AND
CONTRIBUTE TO OUR GROUP -
I LOVE IT!” -ERIK KATZEN

Rooted is the Grove’s high school student ministry for students in
9th-12th grade. The students meet twice a month for a time of
fellowship in small groups, prayer, and games. This time is
intentionally focused on building community and a closer
relationship with God. Students are also presented with the
opportunity to leave the comfort of their homes and embark on
life-changing mission trips that impact their faith and connect
students to Jesus, other students, and a community in need.
rooted
rooted
Rooted went on their first ever Mission Trip to New Orleans, LA to serve a
church and bless a family by doing renovation work following Hurricane Sandy.
We worked through a series that discussed and challenged the students to go
deeper in their prayer life and relationship with God.
We graduated our seniors and sent them with many blessings on their new
journey and welcomed in new freshman to Rooted.
HIGHLIGHTS
09
The Rooted group went to Louisiana to serve God’s people after a
devastating hurricane destroyed so much. The students had an opportunity
to work on restoring a church that has been passed down through
generations. Students were able to not only be witnesses through their work
but also able to work on personal hurdles that affected their own lives.

FC Grove is a middle school ministry focused on students in 6th through
8th grade. Our purpose is to help students Come Alive through a personal
public confession of faith and equip them with times of instruction where
they learn to understand and identify with the Christian community. We
meet as a large group on a biweekly basis and on off weeks students work
through a lesson with their families. A big part of our job is restoring
parents as primary faith teachers with the Church serving as
reinforcement. Within FC Grove there are two life groups where students
dive deeper into the material and are mentored by adult leaders.

students, for inviting a friend to our first FC

a risk sharing his faith and inviting someone,
but that individual has attended on a regular
basis since then and encouraged her entire
family to attend weekly worship on Sundays.”

As children are important to Jesus,
they are important to us at The
Grove. For the children, Pre-K to
5th Grade, we have our Small Fries
program! Our program started this
year under the leadership of Ali and
Ben Revell with an extremely
sparkly treasure chest and a
collection of Bible verses. Along the
way, Dorene Augustyn joined the
team. We focused on having weekly
memory verses to help children get
into their Bibles and start learning
the scriptures. For the second half
of the year, we had started a
challenge for the kids to earn 8
stars to earn an awesome prize for
learning their memory verses. Later
on, we added a monthly lesson,
called Small Fries Connection Time,
where the children do a craft and
learn the Word of God. Our program
is continuously growing and we are
excited to be involved with all the
Small Fries kids!
CREATING A SELF-PORTRAIT WITH
SPECIAL FABRICS, STICKERS,

THE LAST LESSON OF THE YEAR WAS THE
CHRISTMAS STORY OF JESUS’S BIRTH WITH
ACTIVITY BOOKS AND STICKERS!
GOOD – helping people have a better life by meeting their
physical needs,
BETTER – developing relationships with the people we serve
and serving together,
THE BEST – making relationships with people so we can
introduce them to Jesus.
Mission Outreach is the way we serve God by reaching out to help
those in our community and beyond. There are several ways we
can serve by doing...
The Mission Outreach team had a mission fair in February to find
out the interests of the Grove family in areas of community
outreach. The information gathered was used to investigate ways
we could reach out in our community and to provide people within
the Grove individual and small group opportunities to serve. We
thank God for all the blessings we have received and thank all the
people who have given their time and talent to reach out to our
community.

HIGHLIGHTS
It is always a blessing when we can serve and make a positive
difference in someone’s life. Even cleaning up on the roadside you
sometimes meet people in the nearby houses and they want to know
who you are and why you are doing this.
15
With Gloo, our First
Responders have reached
out to 42 Explorers. Over
the past year there have
been at least 5 Explorers
who had face to face
interactions with their
First Responder. Some
members of The Grove,
who were getting to know
an Explorer, picked up the
individual from work, took
him to dinner and
provided a Bible and gift
card to him before
dropping him off back at
home. We continue to be
in contact with this
individual as we talk about
life and spiritual topics.
Adopt a Highway group cleaned the roadsides of FM407, between IH 35 and Hwy 377 four times.
We participated in Christ's Haven for foster children workdays to clean up around the houses and
renovate a meeting area. Several donation drives were held for the children’s needs.
For Giving Grace, a group helping those in danger of or in homelessness, we collected items for a
family to move into an apartment and gifts for a Christmas Party.
Gloo, an outreach platform that helps The Grove meet people where they are in their time of need
and serve them, kicked off in March by training 4 Gloo First Responders.
Beyond our local community, we provided financial support to the district LCMS Missions group, to
Mission India and Groundbreakers to Harvesters and their plant churches in the Aubrey and
Avondale areas.

2023
As we try to follow God’s will, we relinquished the
land we previously selected and are looking for land
to purchase and groundbreaking soon after.
A capital campaign, “Grow the Grove,” started in September. At the end of
2022, the current pledge totals were $115,000/yr for 3 years.
1
Our church budget for 2023 is $256,583 of which
10% will go to Outreach Missions including church
planting, both locally and globally.
2
3
16
and
beyond
The Grove Church will add at least 2 new Life
Groups which will form out of Lunch with Pastor
and include new members and guests.
4
Rooted will reach more people in communities near
and far. This will be obtained by going on a second
out-of-state mission trip and finding a local
ministry in which to be actively involved.
FC Grove leadership will schedule one service project
and one social for the students each semester to
give them the opportunity to grow closer with each
other and develop hearts for service.
Small Fries will continue with monthly lessons
and have at least one Small Fries event for the
kids.
The Grove Church will add 2 more in-person,
relationship-building service events with local
mission partners.

  • 6. Life Groups are the primary context in which we make disciples, build individuals into maturing leaders, and experience Gospel- centered community. Our Life Groups, made up of typically 8-12 adults, gather in homes and share life together, learning about and living out 7 rhythms or spiritual practices of a Christ follower as demonstrated in Acts 2:42-47: Daily Devotions, Prayer, Repentance, Sacrificial Generosity, Serving the Community, Sharing Our Story, and Worship. life groups life groups 06 Life Groups officially kicked off in September of 2022. Each group began with a series called “Rooted” which equips the church to live out our mission and practice the 7 rhythms of discipleship. Every group is creatively coming up with ways to uniquely serve others. Our Life Groups meet the needs of all from single young adults, to married couples with kids, to those in their golden years. • 8. Rooted is the Grove’s high school student ministry for students in 9th-12th grade. The students meet twice a month for a time of fellowship in small groups, prayer, and games. This time is intentionally focused on building community and a closer relationship with God. Students are also presented with the opportunity to leave the comfort of their homes and embark on life-changing mission trips that impact their faith and connect students to Jesus, other students, and a community in need. rooted rooted Rooted went on their first ever Mission Trip to New Orleans, LA to serve a church and bless a family by doing renovation work following Hurricane Sandy. We worked through a series that discussed and challenged the students to go deeper in their prayer life and relationship with God. We graduated our seniors and sent them with many blessings on their new journey and welcomed in new freshman to Rooted. HIGHLIGHTS

  • 10. FC Grove is a middle school ministry focused on students in 6th through 8th grade. Our purpose is to help students Come Alive through a personal public confession of faith and equip them with times of instruction where they learn to understand and identify with the Christian community. We meet as a large group on a biweekly basis and on off weeks students work through a lesson with their families. A big part of our job is restoring parents as primary faith teachers with the Church serving as reinforcement. Within FC Grove there are two life groups where students dive deeper into the material and are mentored by adult leaders. FC grove FC grove 10 Two eighth graders were confirmed in the spring of 2022. We added three sixth graders and one eighth grader in the Fall 2022. Cathy Duran and Samantha Homann stepped up to replace Karen Merrit’s leadership. Our program started this year under the leadership of Ali and Ben Revell with an extremely sparkly treasure chest and a collection of Bible verses. Along the way, Dorene Augustyn joined the team. We focused on having weekly memory verses to help children get into their Bibles and start learning the scriptures. For the second half of the year, we had started a challenge for the kids to earn 8 stars to earn an awesome prize for learning their memory verses. Later on, we added a monthly lesson, called Small Fries Connection Time, where the children do a craft and learn the Word of God. Our program is continuously growing and we are excited to be involved with all the Small Fries kids! CREATING A SELF-PORTRAIT WITH SPECIAL FABRICS, STICKERS, MARKERS, AND STRING WAS A FANTASTIC TIME FOR ALL KIDDOS! WE HAD A GREAT TIME DOING THIS AND SEEING ALL THAT WE CREATED!

GOOD – helping people have a better life by meeting their physical needs, BETTER – developing relationships with the people we serve and serving together, THE BEST – making relationships with people so we can introduce them to Jesus. Mission Outreach is the way we serve God by reaching out to help those in our community and beyond. There are several ways we can serve by doing... The Mission Outreach team had a mission fair in February to find out the interests of the Grove family in areas of community outreach. The information gathered was used to investigate ways we could reach out in our community and to provide people within the Grove individual and small group opportunities to serve. We thank God for all the blessings we have received and thank all the people who have given their time and talent to reach out to our community. 10.5 4 mission outreach mission outreach 14 75 FAMILIES FAMILIES PARTICIPATED PARTICIPATED IN COLLECTION IN COLLECTION DRIVES DRIVES AVERAGE AVERAGE ATTENDANCE ATTENDANCE FOR WORKDAYS FOR WORKDAYS STEERING STEERING TEAM TEAM MEMBERS MEMBERS 5 GROUP GROUP LEADS LEADS
  • 15. HIGHLIGHTS It is always a blessing when we can serve and make a positive difference in someone’s life. Even cleaning up on the roadside you sometimes meet people in the nearby houses and they want to know who you are and why you are doing this. 15 With Gloo, our First Responders have reached out to 42 Explorers. Over the past year there have been at least 5 Explorers who had face to face interactions with their First Responder. Some members of The Grove, who were getting to know an Explorer, picked up the individual from work, took him to dinner and provided a Bible and gift card to him before dropping him off back at home. We continue to be in contact with this individual as we talk about life and spiritual topics. Adopt a Highway group cleaned the roadsides of FM407, between IH 35 and Hwy 377 four times. We participated in Christ's Haven for foster children workdays to clean up around the houses and renovate a meeting area. Several donation drives were held for the children’s needs. For Giving Grace, a group helping those in danger of or in homelessness, we collected items for a family to move into an apartment and gifts for a Christmas Party. Gloo, an outreach platform that helps The Grove meet people where they are in their time of need and serve them, kicked off in March by training 4 Gloo First Responders. Beyond our local community, we provided financial support to the district LCMS Missions group, to Mission India and Groundbreakers to Harvesters and their plant churches in the Aubrey and Avondale areas.
  • 16. looking to 2023 As we try to follow God’s will, we relinquished the land we previously selected and are looking for land to purchase and groundbreaking soon after. A capital campaign, “Grow the Grove,” started in September. At the end of 2022, the current pledge totals were $115,000/yr for 3 years. 1 Our church budget for 2023 is $256,583 of which 10% will go to Outreach Missions including church planting, both locally and globally. 2 3 16 and beyond The Grove Church will add at least 2 new Life Groups which will form out of Lunch with Pastor and include new members and guests. 4 Rooted will reach more people in communities near and far. This will be obtained by going on a second out-of-state mission trip and finding a local ministry in which to be actively involved. FC Grove leadership will schedule one service project and one social for the students each semester to give them the opportunity to grow closer with each other and develop hearts for service. Small Fries will continue with monthly lessons and have at least one Small Fries event for the kids. The Grove Church will add 2 more in-person, relationship-building service events with local mission partners. 5 6 7
