1. Reference for Sam Stephens
Sam Stephens has been a student of mine at Rowville Secondary College for 6 years.
At a young age, Sam expressed a passion and interest in working in the theatre industry. He was
eager to get involved with as many aspects of backstage/crewing and took many opportunities
that the College presented him and he has excelled his skills substantially.
Sam began working and assisting in backstage management and lighting and sound design and
operations through our annual College productions. Sam worked under our theatre technician
Andrew Davies and built a strcng rclationship with him and all other production team members.
Sam has worked on all of our College productions, Grqase (2010), Fame {z0fi), The Wiz
(2O12r, SeussicalThe Musical (2013) and Hairspray QA#|. Sam's experience, skills and
knowledge sf the craft and the industry are welldeveloped and overthe past two years Sam has
been training with LX Productions. He ofien takes initiative and opportunities to further his future
career aspirations.
ln senior years, Sam took on a more leading role within our crew management in productions and
other performing arts evenings at the College. Sam became our 'go-to' guy for teching shows.
Sam would efficiently run lighting and sound for our bi-annualDance and Drama Showcase
nights as well as our highly acclaimed R.l.A Showcase events. Sam has worked up to a level
where he can professionally run an event, without other adult supervision or guidance.
Sam has volunteered numerous and countless hours to developing his skills. He would ofien
work lunchtimes, after school and weekends, on developing his skills and assisting in working in
our Performing Arts Centre. Sam has even been employed by the College to be the theatre
technician on some regular external hiring events for the College's Performing Arts Centre.
As well as this, Sam has displayed great skills in videography and filming. Sam has filmed
numerous events for us, including filming two professional quality commercials for our College
musicals. These commercials were of a high quality and edited with great attention to detail. This
consideration to detail has lead Sam into designing and managing marketing and promotions for
College events as well.
Sam Stephens comes with my highest recommendation.
