Steroid:
It is an organic compound with four rings. Steroids have two
principal biological functions: certain steroids (such as cholesterol)
are important components of cell membranes which alter membrane
fluidity and many steroids are signaling molecules which activate steroid
hormone receptors.

Where oral therapy is not feasible, injectable corticosteroid therapy, including Trecilon Injection
(triamcinolone acetonide injectable suspension, USP) is indicated for intramuscular use such as:

9. Systemic
Intra-muscular dosing:
The suggested initial dose is 60 mg, injected deeply into the gluteal muscle. Dosage is usually adjusted
within the range of 40 mg to 80 mg, depending upon patient response and duration of relief.
Local
Intra-articular dosing:
2.5 mg to 5 mg for smaller joints and from 5 mg to 15 mg for larger joints, depending on the specific
disease entity being treated. For adults, doses up to 10 mg for smaller areas and up to 40 mg for larger
areas have usually been sufficient.

10. Dosage for treatment of Opthalmic diseases
The initial recommended dose of Trecilon suspension is 4 mg
(100 microliters of 40 mg/ml suspension) with subsequent
dosage as needed over the course of treatment.

Pregnancy category ‘C’ :
In animal studies, pregnant animals were given this
medication and had some babies born with problems.
No well-controlled studies have been done in humans.
